I think about this quote from All The Presidents Men constantly- βThe truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of handβ.
Trumpism has reached the world of early reading π€¦ββοΈ
And thereβs a raft of sycophants queueing up to blow up every bit of science and culture around reading

Iβm livid with the mainstream press and their support of the US-Israel war -
Itβs unrepresentative of UK citizens. It only represents the rich gung-ho Epstein class.
Iβm more determined than ever to build the citizen journalism alternative.

Eric Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. are acquiring a drone company that is seeking to meet Pentagon demand after Trump banned the use of Chinese drones.
Weβre barely a week into Trumpβs war and already his family has found a way to cash in.
Everything is for sale.
you hopefully have a point - Calhounβs mouse society experiments in 1960s showed that over indulged mouse colonies produced narcissistic individuals with pathological traits and eventually imploded
The enthusiasm of most billionaire media outlets in the US and UK for Trumpβs illegal assault on Iran is another reminder of how deranged, perverse and frankly psychopathic these organisations are.
So, Johnson, Farage, Badenoch, the Telegraphβ¦ howl about the UK being βan irrelevance on the world stageβ.
Remind me again who decided to isolate us with a strategically and economically idiotic Brexit, relying on a trade deal with the US to save us from exactly the kind of weakness they now bemoan.
An explanation from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social of how British / US overthrow of Mossadegh in 1950s (to get the oil) and the installation of the hugely unpopular Shah as Iranian ruler led to the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
IIRC Adam Curtis also good on this in Bitter Lake.
Sounds like itβll all be in good order if Ruth has had a hand in. But Iβll let you know when am heading to the Black Country - Bostin!

BREAKING: Adolescent teenage boys have taken over the Pentagon.
Interesting. I do think Oak is problematic in a number of ways. I had to chase them for ages to cover the full statutory areas of learning for the EYFS.

Pretty much - phonics is only one thread of the βreading ropeβ yet seems to take up around 25% of the curriculum time in Reception & KS1 - huge focus on PSC but no focus or measure collected of joy / storytelling
Whilst I understand that the National Year of Reading needs press attention, I am sad that the boys in England are constantly portrayed as lacking, not doing enoughβ¦

Phonics & the curriculum was supposed to prevent this - The question is how has the last 20yrs of phonics, curriculum & pedagogical & outcomes development, failed to inspire & motivate them.
Screen shot from Paul Emberyβs X account: Respect to this police officer. Confronted by radicals demanding the arrest of a Christian preacher on the grounds that Whitechapel "is a Muslim area" she was calm and professional and gave them short shrift. Let's see more of this from the police. Has a video of a woman police officer talking to a group of Muslim men
This clip is all over the other place and has made its way onto GB News and Talk TV so Iβll do a bit of an explainer here too!
The clip doing the rounds is of a fantastic police officer telling a group of Muslim men that a Christian preacher nearby is entitled to freedom of expression.

π―%. ! CLT is a limited & frankly patriarchal view of teaching as a one way transmission of facts that has no recognition of, or value for the complex interconnected experiences of nurture, play & interactions of holistic learning that young brains are wired for
This for me is a key point about that 'biologically primary and secondary' thing. It's just not true that children pick up language easily. It's a trope which betrays a lack of knowledge about language development but also an attitude towards the mostly 'women's work' of early child development.
An important reminder
Two things are simultaneously true:
1. The Iranian regime treats its people with extreme brutality and cruelty, and we should honour the citizens seeking to overthrow it.
2. A US attack on Iran would turn a crisis into a catastrophe.
NEW: βItβs a coupβ.
One year on from when DOGE entered the US treasury & Trumpβs blitzkrieg on the rule of law began, Iβve republished an article I wrote then about what the headlines werenβt saying.
NB: Theyβre still not.

I wish it were true that "no one is above the law". But while the City of London acts as laundromat for the world's dirty money, as almost all fraud and waste crime go unprosecuted, as no one has gone to jail for the financial crash or the poisoning of our rivers, this is manifestly untrue.
More of this, please. The folks in this grassroots group are heroes.

Jesse Jackson was a champion for civil rights, economic justice, and world peace.
I have always remembered his moving call for moral clarity at the 1988 DNC.
History teaches us that the greatest harms often begin with the quiet acceptance of the unacceptable. I have seen where that road leads, and I will not walk it again without resistance.
