Born on 11 March 1897, a true Everton stalwart: Hunter Hart.
The Scot had an illustrious playing career at EFC (in spite of only having sight in one eye) before moving into club administration. Sadly, he left under something of a cloud. His story is here:

Superb footage of Everton taking on Ipswich Town (both teams in away kit) in the FA Cup at Goodison Park in January 1969 (on YouTube, care of azcargo). Royle and Hurst on target in a 2-1 win.

Turning 76, today, is former Everton forward Alan Whittle. The Bellefield youth product re-energised the Toffeesβ tilt at the title in 1969/70, scoring 11 goals in 15 appearances. He later had spells at Crystal Palace and Orient plus abroad in Iran and Australia.
On this day, 41 years ago, former Everton player and manager Harry Catterick passed away at Goodison Park while watching an epic cup tie against Ipswich Town. It came five years after Dixie Dean left us in similar circumstances.
Ken Rogers, now our Chair, wrote this for the Echo at the time.
On this day, 52 years ago, Bob Latchford scored his first Goodison Park goals for the Toffees; ironically he scored them against his former club and his brother Dave in goal.

Sylvia Gore was a significant figure in the development of women's football in England, first as a player (and pioneering England international) and later as a coach and administrator.
This May 1975 edition of the Evertonian indicates that she followed the Toffees in that era.
Itβs International Womenβs Day, so there is no better time to explore the excellent content on @evertonwomen.bsky.social (and its previous incarnations) on our website, and the website of our member, EFC Statto:

- which will have Paul McParlan taking about the Toffees' most recent league-winning season, what are your standout memories of that 86/87 campaign?
Times were often bleak for the Blues in the late 1940s, with scoring goals proving problematic. But on 5 March 1949, the Toffees hit five past Blackpool without reply. Eddie Wainwright, pictured in white, scored four times.
We are looking forward to our third talk/social night event, tomorrow evening. Paul McParlan will be talking all things Everton 1986/87 at the Denbigh Castle.

Sixty years ago, in the equivalent fixture, Everton held relegation fighting Newcastle to a 0-0 draw. The Blues extended their unbeaten run to 14 games, without conceding in eight. Deploying a 4-3-3 system, with a forward line of Trebilcock, Temple and Husband, they moved into 7th place.

EFC on tour, circa 1954.
Wishing former EFC striker Alan Biley a happy 69th birthday. One of Howard Kendallβs first signings as the Bluesβ manager, Alanβs star soon waned and after 21 appearances (3 goals) he left for Portsmouth, after a spell on loan at Stoke City.

The Toffees take on Newcastle United on Saturday, only the second occasion on which they have played them on a 28 February. The previous occasion was in 1998, when Howard Kendall's side drew 0-0 at Goodison. Ex Blue Gary Speed lined up for the visitors.
