the milestones evolve as your kids get older, tonight it was my 7 yr old voluntarily clearing the dinner plates and then scooping and bringing out ice cream for the whole family for dessert! if you’re in the trenches w a little one, there is some amazing light at the end of the baby tunnel

watched the new ben stiller movie nutcrackers last night, very tender family movie but my 4 yr old was flummoxed by so much rule-breaking by the boys in the film. at one point the farm dog gets let out of the house alone and she made me pause and said, “is there a gate?”

i love talking smack about the bullies at my kids’ school, it’s so wrong i know, but it just feels so good
my older two kids aren’t picky, they eat pretty well everything but in small portions. the baby though, he eats like a garbage disposal, just an unending and fierce desire to EAT DAMMIT and i’m so scared for my future grocery bills
