A puppet show? A surreal play? A dreamlike dance piece? That’s Fringe energy. Keep an eye out — we’ll be sharing individual show features soon.

Fringe started as a radical idea: make space for artists outside traditional systems.
Today, it’s a global movement built on access, experimentation, and creative freedom. And it’s still growing. Join us!

There’s a thread that connects us. Artists. Audiences. Stories. Stages. We’re stitching Fringe 2026 together and your work belongs here.

We are extending the Early Bird registration and the Regular registration times to give artists more time to work with our venues who are just getting started booking because of the holiday breaks. So there is still time to get a venue sorted and still receive the early bird discount!
Many shows you see playing at the Cultural Trust or other places, originally started at a fringe. Support artists in their creative journey through fringes by seeing their shows. You could be seeing the next Six, or Stomp before everyone else!
This list represents shows that audiences picked by "bums in seats," and only after that did curators notice the audiences' excitement and book for tours, other festivals, or venues.
That is sometimes the only avenue for new shows with new "edgy" or controversial styles to get in front of an audience at all.
Fringe's are crucial to the ecosystem and helpful in giving a platform to new work. Especially new work that may not have other avenues. In our model, the audience picks the shows, not the curator. The artists decide what they want to bring to the audience, without the middleman.
Nice little article about some of the shows that have come out of Edinburgh Fringe (clearly not all of them - just a few!).

This month, the wild, weird and wonderful of the Steel City’s arts community will descend on the streets of Garfield, Bloomfield and Friendship for the annual Pittsburgh Fringe Festival. This nine-day performing arts festival is returning for fully in-person performances.

A demonically possessed scout leader, an accordion-playing clown trolling their ex-partner and a die-hard “Jaws” devotee lurk behind the unassuming gray walls of Mr. Roboto Project on Penn Avenue. Welcome to the dazzling underbelly of Pittsburgh’s theatrical world.
