Here is a WIP of my latest project, my E. Kalimba V3.0. It is a sandwich of two custom (hand solderable) PCBs, with 80 tactile buttons and lots of other stuff going on. Powered by an ESP32 controller, dual analog wave generators, battery powered, programmed with Arduino and everything open source.
I have a soft spot in my heart for robots like these. I made a kit when I was in tenth grade and took it to the state science fair. My dad taught me how to solder on them.

I mean, I get it. I think if you're trying to learn the tech then there's nothing wrong with making impractical things.
... But also learning why these suck is also valuable. You begin to respect just how difficult good "invisible" design is.
