Something especially cursed about the school paying for canvas to monetize student data, paying for ChatGPT so students donβt have to learn, and now paying for spyware to take over their webcams to make sure they donβt use ChatGPT to cheat on tests on canvas b/c they didnβt learn anything in class

An elementary school in the Iranian capital Tehranβs Niloufar Square has been struck in US-Israeli attacks, according to Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei.
Baghaei on Friday shared a video on X, purportedly showing Shahid Hamedani School with students before and after the attack, without elaborating on the circumstances or the number of casualties.
The US and Israel have apparently attacked another elementary school in Iran, this one in Tehran.

Itβs not disingenuous to point out that the NYT did not run a single front page story of the Minab bombing. You donβt dispute this claim because itβs true. And the story that you reference on your webpage does not attribute blame to US/Israel and frames it as an allegation by βIranian state mediaβ

America Second, Israel First?
It was bad enough that Donald Trump hasnβt been able to explain clearly why he yet again felt he had to attack Iran, and why now. His national security advisor and secretary of state, Marco Rubio, the...
Rubio (whether intentionally or unintentionally, I believe the latter but you can debate it) seems to have completely blown up the discursive barriers around this. Here is an article in Bloomberg that one could only have imagined seeing in a place like Zeteo before this week.

The Right Expands Its Campaign to Censor College Professors
PEN America called 2025 βa year of catastrophe for higher education,β but professors are fighting back against censorship.
βOur vision for a fully-funded public education, where a professor can write and teach freely, and can challenge every vapid, cruel argument federal and state governments make, sustains us. Itβs what weβre fighting for.βΒ

I think challengers need to consider how they differentiate themselves substantially from Newsom and others who are now paying lip service to what the base wants. Centrists are adept at saying what people want to hear, and not delivering. Newsom especially. Push the demands further, be specific.

It was in those spaces, in the late 2010s, that I realized that the fundamentalist Christians Iβd grown up with werenβt the only people enforcing rigid ideas about how others should think. After arriving in New York with mainstream Democratic views, I took classes heavy on critical theories that fixated on identity categories and reflexively decried capitalism and the West. Within influential LGBTQ organizations, gay rights had given way to radical queer politics, and academic theories about sex and gender had hardened into doctrine. Widespread revulsion toward Donald Trump had narrowed the boundaries of permissible discussion on the left. The more Trump and his followers opposed something, the more we were supposed to support it. The prevailing view was that any debate within our side would become ammunition for the right.
For a long time, I feared that if I didnβt keep my thoughts to myself, I would lose the only community Iβd ever really belonged in. As controversy flared up nationally about pediatric gender medicine, though, I started voicing concerns, rooted in my own experiences, over what looked to me like a rush to medical treatment. For all the sloganeering about protecting trans kids, I heard no discussion about protecting effeminate gay boys from unnecessary medicalization. When I and others asked whether progressive norms might be nudging effeminate gay boys to think of themselves as girls, no one wanted to hear it. Instead of answers, we were given the LGBTQ communityβs official line. βGender identity and sexual orientation are two different things,β the Human Rights Campaign asserts. But the confidence with which people claim that the two have nothing to do with each other is hard to square with research findings: According to data collected mostly before the recent surge in pediatric-dysphoria diagnoses, most prepubescent children who experienced gender distress went on to experience same-sex attraction and ultimately did not pursue a gender transition. Of 70 adolescents whom Dutch clinicians subjected to puberty suppression from 2000 to 2008, the overwhelming majority were attracted exclusively to people of their biological sex.
Straightforward right-wing agitprop. The idea that thousands of kids were pushed into gender-affirming surgeries because the left shuts down debate is a laughable conspiracy theory. The overwhelming social pressure is to be cis, not trans!
