The Blackhawks had a busy trade deadline. @ByScottPowers grades them out well:

NEW: Trade deadline winners and losers:
(Hint: There were more losers than winners.)

This deadline has been so boring that my watch thinks I've been sleeping for the last 90 minutes. Seriously.
Nick Foligno was signed to be a transitional captain between Jonathan Toews and (presumably) Connor Bedard. He was everything the Blackhawks wanted him to be and more. Now they're returning the favor by letting him chase his first Cup.
That's another grown-up with real-life experience out of the room. The Blackhawks' youngsters learned a lot from them while they were here, though:

Blackhawks trade captain Nick Foligno to Minnesota, where he'll chase his first Stanley Cup alongside his brother, Marcus.

Trade grades for the Stanley/Schenn trade between Winnipeg and Buffalo. Corey Pronman and I don't exactly see eye-to-eye on this one:

Jason Dickinson wasn't just a good penalty killer. He was a guy the young Blackhawks could go to for advice on contract talks, on home-buying, on managing money.
On losing actual grown-ups with real life experience and the effect it has on a young team:

Evgeni Malkin should get suspended for that.

I've seen them in Chicago a few times, but not THAT long ago.
One of my favorite bands (Our Lady Peace) is playing at one of my favorite venues (The Vic) tonight. I will not be there. π
The Blackhawks are used to saying goodbye to good teammates and good friends this time of year.
They're also sick and tired of it.

Count Nick Foligno as one of the many people in the hockey world who thinks it's "stupid" to have games on deadline day:
www.nytimes.com/athletic/liv...
Alex Vlasic gets his trade-deadline news from Instagram, so he said he's just been constantly refreshing.
"Itβs kind of scary. You donβt want to lose any of your good buddies, you donβt want to get traded yourself."
Jeff Blashill expects Wyatt Kaiser to play tomorrow.
Nick Foligno had no new updates on his situation at the trade deadline. Said he's had talks with Kyle Davidson but that he's committed to the Blackhawks for as long as he's here.
Oliver Moore is at 3C with Jason Dickinson gone. Nick Foligno is centering the fourth line.
It's been so long since I've been to a Blackhawks practice, this place has doubled in size and changed names.
Our NHL trade deadline live blog is off and running. It'll be updated continuously through tomorrow afternoon:

TRADE GRADES: The Oilers get a very good defensive center in Jason Dickinson, and get out of a very bad contract in Andrew Mangiapane. But Stan Bowman paid a high price.

(Oops, the analysis and details will be there momentarily, haha.)
NEW: Blackhawks trade Jason Dickinson, Colton Dach to Edmonton for 2027 first-rounder (top-12 protected) and Andrew Mangiapane.

Dreaming of making fetch happen.
New POWERS & LAZ: @ByScottPowers and I open up the listener mailbag ahead of the deadline.
And, hey, shouldn't the Blackhawks β who have everything St. Louis wants and more β be in on 26-year-old playmaker Robert Thomas? We discuss.
