I have this exact model, but it’s exactly as beat up and one should expect an 11-years-old’s toy to be.

Treasured possession.

Exactly. My thinking has been simple and steady: I’ll get back to Pokémon when it becomes clear that Game Freak loves it as much as I do.

The last time I felt that with a mainline series game was probably Pokémon X/Y. After that, I stopped feeling the love from them.

Is this Slay the Spire 2??? It looks indistinguishable from the first???

Cautiously optimistic towards Winds/Waves. Will buy if it reviews about as well as Pokopia is reviewing. If not, I’ll gladly skip it one more gen.

I did stop settling. I bought Pokopia, but before that, the last Pokémon game I had bought or played was Sword/Shield. When I told people that was my last straw and I was done with Pokémon until they turned that ship around, I meant it.

It does have some charm, though. It could have been an “”“S Tier experience”””, perhaps, if the writing was bolder.

It’s a competent and well made game, but nothing that approaches an S Tier experience (whatever that may be). At the end of the day, it’s just another “busywork simulator” with well-paced treadmill delivering small, achievable goals. We’ve all seen this before.

I feel like my ability to enjoy high production value games is damaged somehow. I’m playing Pokopia, and while I do like it, I don’t see how it’s nearly as fantastic as people (and Metacritic) are making it out to be.

If I was still in my reviewing days, I’m not sure I’d score it higher than an 8?

I got this survey as well, and I bought the game from the Brazilian eShop.

Made sure to fill it in very detailed-ly

This is somehow the most haunting bit of in-game lore I have ever read.

I've been running gdcparties.com for a few years now. Some shitty company BlueberryAI decided they'd just take all the source code for the work I've done and reskin it, advertising it as their own. Jokes on them...it was still linked to my events spreadsheet, and now their website looks like this 😉

No AI Feature As everyone does the same thing, we try to get one step ahead

Elaborating on the values thing: they’re very much against AI writing. When they felt the pressure to add AI writing tools, instead they added features to detect and remove AI writing. They also have a blog where they publish very clear-headed stuff, such as this: ia.net/topics/no-fe...

They’re really good, and you’ll even agree with their values even as a company.

Plus, Scrivener is overkill for YouTube scripts. It’s built for writing novels.

Like, the other day I saw a headline saying something like “X algorithm causes the average user to shift political views to the right measurably”. I’ll laugh at the face of whoever says Bluesky doesn’t shift user’s opinions left. Maybe not to the same degree, or for same reasons, but it does.

I think it’s pretty silly to pretend Bluesky doesn’t have self-reinforcing beliefs and social norms in very similar ways than X does.

Both have echo chamber characteristics. X is much worse? Sure. But that doesn’t mean Bluesky is the fully neutral town square where no echo ever chambers.

Bot to defend the guy wholeheartedly, but you’re supposed to be able to submerge most modern phones without issues. One of the first things I did with the last phone I bought was take a lot of videos in a pool, including dropping it fully in the water while recording. Pretty awesome results.

Saw a thoughtful thread about AI, don't want to QT or argue. But. The biggest rage factor with LLMs is the people who, because genAI is transformative for coding, think it's transformative for everything else, because they devalue every other form of work and labor and knowledge.

I wasn’t prepared, either financially or emotionally, to actually want to buy Pokémon Pokopia.

This, combined with "vice signaling" (taking pride in antisocial behavior) has given us the reign of the Stupid Asshole, something most people are against, but can only be remedied if we're not too polite to talk about it

Minishoot' Adventures is a great game and now that it's out on consoles and all that I am here to once again say that Minishoot' Adventures is a great game and you should play that.

"Sustainable player base" suggests to me that players are essentially livestock for a video game farm. Rethink game design that requires your game to need a constant stream of players to make it playable and profitable.

Dude, yes.

So much yes.

Triple A needs to go back to go back to the “make good game so it sells a healthy amount and create trust in the developers so that the next game also sells a healthy amount” model.

But no, Epstein and his pals reeeeeally wanted to “indoctrinate kids into an economy”.
