Here we go again.

When the federal government starts punishing libraries for carrying books about gender identity, it is not defending families. It is policing ideas.

That's what the "Stop the Sexualization of Children Act" is designed to do.

Call it what it is and oppose it.

Stunned to be included on this list of badasses 😳 High praise. Incredible cohort. Honored!

A bipedal red fox paints a rainbow across the sky. They have a determined look on their face.

To the right of the rainbow are segments of text from newspaper articles about grim news for LGBTQIA+ folks, especially trans folks.

On the left, there are flowers on the ground, with butterflies flittering about. The discouraging words are illegible faint smudges.

Cool display! If I still had a library, I’d be stealing that one first sure.

I can’t begin to count the number of times it’s been challenged. Further proof, as Steven Pico said recently, that book banners are “very good at choosing excellent literature.”

Smaller pins (on strings), shorter lanes, smaller balls ( no holes, about the size of a grapefruit). Lotsa fun!

I feel ya, Becca. NHHS was a toxic stew of misogyny, racism & incompetent coach-bro-dude administrators that nearly killed me. For real. If it was that awful for me as a an adult, I hate to think what kids endured. I hope the library offered relief. @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social

This could not exist in this form in a high school. The next generation of 5th graders would be conceived under that table.

Hearing Lisa Rinna talk about burning Andy Cohen’s book reminds me of when Doug & I incinerated the motivational “You Matter” t-shirt my school gave staff, with the demand that we wear it on Fridays, despite daily evidence that we didn’t matter. We want a Library Commission that works for the public! YouTube video by WCNJ FreedomToRead

Sounds like Warren County, NJ. On top of the nepotism-driven political patronage appointees with no credentials or relevant experience, the library board calls concerned community members “stupid” behind closed doors and is secretly changing the bylaws, refusing to hear input from the community.

cover of the nowhere girls

THE NOWHERE GIRLS by Amy Reed meets teens where they are and challenges them to think bigger. It explores friendship, consent, sexism, and the courage to speak up. Books like this spark important conversations about respect and accountability. Silencing them limits the dialogue teens need.

Every Democrat in the House should sign on to articles of impeachment for Kristi Noem. This is fruit so low-hanging it's practically below ground.

To me this says FUND LIBRARIES‼️

Fund collections. Fund staff. Fund more folks working in reference and research. Fund teen library space & teacher in the library programs

We ALREADY have a wildly popular institution that helps kids learn, respects their privacy, and teaches critical thinking 📚
