Fact-check: Elon sells or rents rockets to the government. That's not "free money".

TIL: the BitcoinHackers.org Mastodon instance was defederated/cancelled in 2023 for "promoting environmental harm" with Bitcoin mining (never mind crypto mining promotes the use of stranded renewables).

A KYC'd internet might be the end of Web2.0.
In the sense of the beginning of the end of crowdsourced content, with our clicks data-mined as the new oil.
But we have the darknets and the distributed uncensorable web3.
The Web is dead. Long live the Web.
A KYC'd internet will be uninteresting to me. Nobody will post anything controversial.
We will retreat to Nostr, darknets, E2EE chats, etc. A more obscure alt internet.

Too late.

The demolition of the free Internet is going at full speed:
EU age verification app to ban any Android system not licensed by Google

We're going to need VPNs, Tor, I2P, BlueSky, Nostr, Mastodon, Lemmy, PeerTube, the Indieweb, etc.
TCP
It wasn't implemented.
libp2p only supported UDP until recently.

Thank you!
Can someone explain to me?
1) are the convicted criminals (of rape, murder) who were pardoned by Biden going to be left on the streets, or are they going to get life prison?
2) if the latter, how is this a good thing?
(Yes, I'm against death penalty).

Without knowing the truth, there is no freedom.

New heuristic:
I'll block people when in a reply they start using the word "you". The next step coming is an ad hominem. They aren't focusing on the argument.
If you have an independent opinion and express it, you will frequently piss off everybody, left and right.
I bundle them together because the money obviously influences the political orientation of the media. How can it not?
And anyway, NPR is absolutely pro (Democrat) government. Do we agree on this last bit or do you think NPR leans right like Fox News?
Trump threatened with a 25% tariff if Canada and Mexico don't stop fentanyl trading and the caravans of migrants to the US.
I don't think the tariff will happen because both Canada and Mexico are taking steps to stop both the fentanyl trade and the migrant caravans.
An AI agent that insta-blocks ad hominem replies before you read them.
And there's no need to be unpleasant when someone politely disagrees with you.
The label is likely going to be removed when NPR stops receiving government funds.
If somehow it doesn't survive for lack of funds, then it wasn't independent after all.
I don't ignore it. I just disagree that BBC and NPR have an independent reporting.
This should be done with all taxes, not just tariffs: sales tax, social security tax, Obamacare, etc.
The application of the label was not consistent. There's media in China that is financed mostly without government handouts, yet you'll agree it's "state-affiliated".
The control isn't just by the finances.
If you think NPR is independent from the government, I assume you support the government stopping giving money to it.
Or is it "independent" and at the same time should receive the money?
IIRC, the "state affiliated media" flag existed before Elon bought X/Twitter, but it was never applied to any Western media.
Both Twitter and Bluesky seem echo chambers to me, because most of those opening an account here are disabling the account there.
