Dragon Age: Inquisition tarot styled piece featuring Gray Warden Duncan from Dragon Age: Origins. With his forehead pressed into his hand and a regretful expression, he is holding a cup that resembles a joining chalice but he is not looking at it. The chalice is tilted down in his grasp, the contents spilling out like a waterfall. Two more chalices are overturned in the background that seems to be melting away. Another two more crowd behind him, upright, and seem like they have gushing water out of them. A part of the landscape behind him is slowly being eaten away by the blight. The illustration mimics Five of Cups tarot card.

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
Watching Delicious in Dungeon with the kids and we’re talking about ai and cognitive death.
If you're doing callout posts about artists creating fictional taboo content, you may not consider yourself a fascist, but you are one. You are their stupid tool at the bare minimum. The good news is you can stop doing that at any time
I know it’s difficult right now, but I insist that you seek and enjoy beautiful things, even if it seems frivolous or irresponsible in the face of overwhelming horror. I want you to feed yourself artistically, spiritually, and literally, because you can’t Do The Work when you’re starving.

If an artist isn't able to visualise their ideas on paper (or on the screen) without the use of genAI, they are not an artist. I know some artists who aren't capable of visualising things in their head, yet they can still create stunning art. I know others who brainstorm their ideas and compositions with literal scribbles and stick figures, only to end up with a beautifully rendered piece. There is absolutely no excuse for a self-respecting artist to use genAI at any point during their process.
Someone over on Instagram saying that genAI is bad for art, but can still be used by artists who have trouble visualising their ideas.
I had to reply.
AI tempts everyone with perfection and immediate gratification- studios and consumers alike. But the creation of art is an expression of the human condition and so it will always be flawed in execution somehow, to someone. We have lost sight of the VALUE in that.
Imagine a world where children are never encouraged to draw or write or imagine stories, they are only told to consume and prompt and generate, poking the Approved Intellectual Property Characters with a stick to dance for them, but never having characters or worlds or stories of their own.
Picture of Marjane Satrapi alongside a quote from her. The quote reads: The world is not divided into countries. The world is not divided between East and West. You are American, I am Iranian, we don't know each other, but we talk together and we understand each other perfectly. The difference between you and your government is much bigger than the difference between you and me. And the difference between me and my government is much bigger than the difference between me and you. And our governments are very much the same... - Marjane Satrapi, Iranian-French graphic novelist
Thinking about this quote from Persepolis creator Marjane Satrapi again.
Lot of people being real defeatist about LLM news today and acting like you lost when you can just put that energy to mocking companies and organisations that use any kind of genAI and shame the fuck out of them. They hate that and it’s easy to do. Try inventing more words for them to ban!!

“Make bad game? Fired. Make good game? Fired. Make incredibly successful game? Believe it or not, also fired.” Original source of meme is from Parks and Recreation.
the video game industry is a mess
Kill it with fire and then do it again
A gift for @itsthebeanie.bsky.social, one of my incredible discord moderators! They requested something with critters and something spaced themed, so it naturally followed that I had to draw space raccoons ✨
I have determined that everything right now is All Too Much and it needs to be Considerably Less, so if reality could just dial it down a fucking iota or two, I think we'd all like that
from reddit r/ExperiencedDevs • 21h ago Tech-Cowboy An AI CEO finally said something honest (Meta Dax Raad from anoma.ly might be the only CEO speaking honestly about Al right now. His most recent take: "everyone's talking about their teams like they were at the peak of efficiency and bottlenecked by ability to produce code here's what things actually look like - your org rarely has good ideas. ideas being expensive to implement was actually helping - majority of workers have no reason to be super motivated, they want to do their 9-5 and get back to their life - they're not using Al to be 10x more effective they're using it to churn out their tasks with less energy spend - the 2 people on your team that actually tried are now flattened by the slop code everyone is producing, they will quit soon - even when you produce work faster you're still bottlenecked by bureaucracy and the dozen other realities of shipping something real - your CFO is like what do you mean each engineer now costs $2000 extra per month in LLM bills"
someone in AI fucked up and actually told the truth
ancient people running from conquering forces, forefathers running out of the empire in the middle of the night, the insane level of secrecy to survive under a communist dictatorship... yeah, I get it.
If you don’t read old stuff you’ll never discover that people in the olden days had the same thoughts and feelings and dreams and anxieties you do, sometimes articulated differently, sometimes exactly the same way. You are never truly alone in anything and old writings are a neon sign telling you so
this is why the whole “oh, suffering creates great art” thing is bullshit
you know what’s conducive to art? a roof over your head and food on the table
you know what isn’t? stressing out over where the fuck the rent money is going to come from
