"typo" and said her co-authors have submitted a correction to the journal. The error remains in the online version but Liu said she anticipates it will be updated soon.

levels of flame retardants that we found in black plastic household items are still of high concern, and our recommendations remain the same."

PSA: The black plastic utensils story is a classic example of something that happens often: unsupportable scientific results communicated in popular media. This case was author error but recent headlines about processed food & colon cancer are from data that didn’t look at processed food consumption
