that is seriously one of my favorite videos of all time. lewis just looking at him like "you absolute loon, i love you, but i do not understand you."

well that was amazing. 25th anniversary of pete yorn's first record. played the whole thing, out of order, with lots of fun stories, then did a killer second set including my absolute favorite deep cut of his. sooooo worth driving 200 miles for.

when i started advising, i constantly had to remind the boys who came to formals what "formal" meant. bless their messy hearts.

that was my first thought too, but they looked WAY more put together than frat/srat kids normally do.

it looked a lot more compatible than i made it sound - they were very nice suits, and the turtleneck boy was very clearly going for A Look™️ with his. but the whole sextet of them was very matter out of place.

that was weird. reasonably large party bus pulls up at the restaurant. three college girls in high glam formal gowns get out. three boys in what i'd call upscale prom (dark suits, 2 in black dress shirts, one in a turtleneck/gold glitter loafers) get out. bus leaves.

my answer for part 2 is one that disappointed me at first, but after a couple of years really won me over: fall out boy's "mania." i listened once, dropped it for ages, then picked it back up during covid. now it's my favorite of theirs.

it's a time change weekend

can we all just stipulate that a lot of us hate it, a lot of us like it, it's going to happen, and keep it moving? it'll save us all energy and vitriol that's better used elsewhere.

yesssssss. come hang out! been advocating for this for years, and now we have critical mass to do it right.

it's the best. we got a little practice with my friend's surprise baby* brother who was born halfway through our 12th grade year, but we have 4 or 5 20something bébés in the circle and they're all so much fun.

*he is going to be 29 in december but he is the baby forever

The integrity of the legal profession sits entirely on our long standing insistence on self-regulation, free from improper government intrusion or influence. This attempt to violate the Tenth Amendment by inserting political strong-arming into the legal profession would destroy our integrity and undermine centuries of the rule of law. The President has no place interfering in whether or not a lawyer has violated their state's rules of professional practice. That is not a federal matter. It has nothing to do with the federal government. It does not matter who a lawyer works for - if that lawyer violates the rules in the course of practicing law, that lawyer must be disciplined for it. Again, the President has nothing to do with the right of a state bar to determine what its rules are and who gets to be a lawyer in that state.

when i realized how much info i had to give up to get the law license in the first place, i got a lot less scared about this sort of thing. i am not that hard to find on a regular day, so let's use it for good, y'know?

oh that is SO sweet. we have a broader citizens academy in MOB that had a planning day as part of it, but i would ADORE a focused dive into planning.

i am chewing on a theory of why the whole gEnErAtiOnS thing is so fraught online, and the fact that the only two real multigenerational spaces in our society are work and socials is part of it. it needs work, but the tendrils are there.
