Warming up the paintbrush for the Great Italian Adventure. Switching from wax and fire to water and pigment is not as big of an adjustment as you would think.
The ceramic monarch cocoons catch the last rays of sun.
The Extinction Chandelier catching the last rays of the sun through the studio window.
I'm excited to share that the chandelier will be part of Gallery B612's upcoming "Letters to Planet Earth" show.
Don't forget to swing by for First Thursday to see this amazing exhibit.

Printers are evil that way
Art heals, art is necessary for your sanity.
This is why I turned to art in the first place. Because I needed something in my life besides work, family and household chores. I needed something for my soul.
So instead of pouring myself a martini, I stepped into the studio and...well first I grabbed some power tools to get a block of wood prepped to become a piece of art. But then I relaxed, melted some wax and spent 30 minutes creating this collage.
Ok, I know it's my fault... I should not look at the news before I get out of bed.
It's has been one of those days. First the crazy BS from the White House and then one of those work days where every step of the way you just get a "NO!"
Packing up to teach a beginning encaustic class. Got a new hand truck to make life easier.
Thank you for bringing much needed levity to my doomscrolling.
Thanks so much for sharing. I'm looking forward to taking a listen.
#ArtAdventCalendar was so much fun. I loved seeing all your work. Merry Christmas, happy holidays and praying for more peace and empathy in 2026.
Merry Christmas Eve!
Umbrella Pine, Rome. This experiment in Bojagi style quilting and encaustic was my first foray into free-hanging work.
My love for these trees has inspired a stint in Rome for 2026. You can see BTS images here: sharongottula.com/blog/6-steps...

This is spectacular. I canβt even wrap my head around how difficult this is to create.
They are so fun to make. Iβm thinking about creating a version with wishes for the new year.

βYearning Pineβ
This pine tree is actually quite small. I photographed it at the Kuboto gardens. I love the structure and bend in that tree trunk it looks like itβs dancing.
This looks so interesting. Iβve never heard of this. How does it work?
