Democrats may not be able to prevent Mullin's confirmation, but they can certainly turn his track record of offense and stupidity into two days of televised humiliation so spectacular that he is wounded in Trump's eyes from day 1. That is the job.

The only thing I can do about 'this is not a regime change war, we just insist on selecting the new government after launching a military campaign to topple the old government' is make stupid puns
The inevitable Supreme Court case where they rule that because you checked a EULA box you canβt sue openAI for your sonβs death is gonna be rough.
Itβs so fucking good!!!
Of the three actresses discussed in the piece, Jessie Buckley went to RADA, Emma Stone had private acting instruction beginning in high school, and Tayana Taylor, had a long music career beginning when she was 15. Reality tv has nothing really to do with their technical skills or talent.
So this is a fun piece and no shade on Kyle, but man did the framing βis reality tv the new Juilliardβ put a bee in my bonnet. Juilliard is a school, it exists to provide training. Reality tv might be a springboard to a career, but it does not provide real training.

You wonβt find a better or safer environment for effeminate gay boys to freely be themselves than a community where trans kids are affirmed.
It's by no means the most important piece of the whole Paramount mishegoss but I feel like we don't talk enough about how Larry Ellison looks like 2010s Mickey Rourke got stung in the face by like 200 bees
This makes sense I just also think we have figured out how to solve it, and this is a massive problem for democracy!
(My specific acting mfa advice is that there are only a couple of programs that have a good track record of grads working steadily and if you donβt get into those you should consider a different strategy)
As for the MFA folks, maybe 1-2 people a year wound up being professional writers. My year there were three. But itβs not a waste of time to be paid to study writing and literature and to teach for three years! Youβll learn a lot.
my MFA program was adjoined to an English PHD program. I donβt think a single PhD candidate I knew is teaching in college? One owns a bar, several teach high school, some do copywriting, one works for a press. I donβt think theyβre failures! Their work and self are informed by their grad experience
I loved my program and met people who changed my lifeβ¦ there was also at least one day where I pounded my hand against my steering wheel and screamed I DONβT DESERVE THIS! For five minutes.
You should go for a humanities PHD or MFA if you are willing to count years of growing and changing and learning in community as good *for their own sake* because the odds in the job market are terrible. And also because grad school is emotionally taxing!
β¦ My further advice is if youβre going for an MFA, you should go only if you get funding or can graduate with minimal debt. The odds that you will make that money back with your creative work otherwise are small.
When people ask me about grad schoolβ which to be clear was extremely helpful for my careerβ I tell them that I was lucky and they should not expect anything career wise to come out of itβ¦.
