The comparison with the controversy over the Belgrano sinking is indeed interesting: international waters, moving away not towards, proximity to home assets, immediate threat potential, war crime allegations (or not). π€
Also the sadsacks' ignorance of everything not done by the USA. π
Gulp. The lunatics really are running the US.

Are they bollocks. The drop in children attending private schools is only 0.6% when adjusted against total student population and the trend has been downwards for a decade. This is just PR for the independent sector.
Drivers complaining about having to pay for public and active transport is like ordering all the most expensive items on the menu, refusing to share it, splitting the bill and then complaining about having to pay for everyone else's meal of one serving of breadsticks.
The process that led to the Holocaust didn't start with killing people.
First it made them non-people.
Then it killed them.
Strava 3D map of the rise (orange line) orientated East at top. Glastonbury, Ashcott, Shapwick, Westhay, Burtle, Catcott, Shapwick, Ashcott, Glastonbury.
Godney Road looking south. Muddy lane bottom right to mid left. Roadside rhynes full of water. Bare trees & bushes line the lane. A bright object in the sky in the middle of the picture breaking through the cloud. Hints of blue behind.
The view North from near Ashcott towards Brent Knoll in the distance on the horizon. Green field I the foreground lit by a full sun. A mostly blue sky with a few white clouds. Honest. Incredible.
Sunny Sunday Ride.
Still limited routes accessible because of the flooding on The Levels / Moors.
But every cyclist I encountered waved & had a big smile on their face. A dank, muddy weight lifted.

Okay, this is quite outstanding from Bedford Council.
The Long Drove (just before it submerges) bottom right to mind left. A drowned field behind, now a lake. Bare trees & hedges behind, reflected in the lake. Grey\blue sky above. Mostly light grey tbh.
Godney Road heading away from Glastonbury. Single track bottom right to middle top. Informative red sign indicating that the road is closed. Even more informative yellow sign saying that access to Glastonbury Wedding & Events is via the A39, "owing to flooding".
No Kidding! Godney Road impersonating a canal somewhere distance short of the Division Rhyne bridge on the Glastonbury side. Flooded road, flooded fields.
Sharpham Drove at Durston T-Junction. Single track road with leafless trees either side. Blue\grey sky above. A bit more blue now. Honest. Zoom in for Glyn's secret business (not secret if you live in Glastonbury, obvs).
1st Ride of '26: Escape from Glastonbury.
With dry feet.
Wonky ankle notwithstanding*
Not by The Long Drove;
not by Godney Road;
but by Sharpham Drove.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβbecause the person felt she did didnβt deserve the recognition.
Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Studies show 20mph speed limits result in a 34%-40% reduction in fatal or serious injuries on urban roads.
Pedestrian fatality risk drops from 50% at 30mph to just 1.5%β10% at 20mph.
Recent data shows 20mph zones can reduce child fatalities by up to 75%.
Cost savings for NHS & emergency services.
Iβll have been in country for ten years in August, & should have been eligible for ILR, then citizenship the day after we get married in November. I have paid in the range of Β£15k in visa fees since arriving, and have been in work nonstop, paying tax.
This fascist dumbass is stealing that.

Fuck this guy. With bells on. By his βstandardsβ Iβm not even British. And anyone who isnβt white only serves to be his taxi driver. Heβs a filthy individual and it galls me that despite repeated chances he hasnβt evolved at all and people still give him a platform.
On behalf of the UK, apologies for such a rude, unthoughtful comment.
That's really not a helpful (or thoughtful) comment. Looking this side of the Atlantic, is everyone in the UK to blame for Brexit?
Please think about what you say.
Meanwhile, Britain finds itself lost between two worlds. We were told we didnβt need Europe, we could rely on the transatlantic relationship. They couldnβt have been more wrong.
