As an outdoors enthusiast in the U.S. northeast who operates trail cams, I've long been familiar with mountain lion truthers. But I've only just become acquainted with BADGER TRUTHERS and boy are they dedicated.
There was a hilarious slash cringe scandal about 15 years ago when a college professor (?) gave a TEDx talk full of nonsense, possibly to make a point about what people were willing to believe as long as it “sounded smart.” They tightened the screws after that embarrassment
Anything for the TED main stage or satellite events is fact-checked. For TEDx, organizers run the risk of losing their licenses if a talk turns out to be easily disproven, so clearly you were deemed trustworthy! (Also some events fact-check after the speech but before it goes online.)
One annoying thing about the "run the government like a business" guys is that they also are terrible at running businesses. I run my podcast "like a business" in the sense that things are made to a high quality and shipped on time, but it seems their only version of "good business" is "layoffs"

An advertising based business model is incompatible with an API strategy that enables 3rd party clients. Most social apps figured this out a decade ago which is why Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc don’t have such APIs.
