andrew hoan is probably more personally responsible for the state of portland than anyone else in the city. can’t think of another person who’s done more work to drive businesses out of downtown and make it less livable

It’s not disingenuous to point out that the NYT did not run a single front page story of the Minab bombing. You don’t dispute this claim because it’s true. And the story that you reference on your webpage does not attribute blame to US/Israel and frames it as an allegation by “Iranian state media”
Tacoma LNG founding board member is about to run a public utility, city light.
Woah.
Thanks to @350seattle.bsky.social for educating about this!
Seattle City Light is a public utility and we need someone dedicated to the public not for profit interests.

Per Cassie Wilson email, SB 1586 (the bill that would make 1700 acres of Wash Co farmland available for development for industry and data centers) is DEAD
The bill also doesn’t touch the millions of dollars ODOT intends to use for bonding to pay for another $160 million allocation towards the doomed, $2 billion Rose Quarter Freeway Expansion.
These cuts to Safe Routes were a deliberate political choice.
Call your Oregon senate person and make them feel bad. Tell them them SB 1601 is obscene and unacceptable, and that you know what happened with the transportation bill, and how the Democrats squandered a supermajority by crossing the aisle and how, after that, not a single Republican voted for it
tl;dr: more people should watch this gentleman's speech and think seriously about what he is saying

-$17 million in cuts to the Safe Routes to School program, which builds out sidewalks and bike lanes near schools, -$42 million in cuts to Connect Oregon, which funds Amtrak Cascades among other transportation services, -$35 million in cuts to miscellaneous safety projects, like bridge preservation and seismic resilience -$8 million in cuts to the Community Paths program, which builds our multi-use paths
folks, SB 1601 is bad news. from the @portlanddsa.bsky.social ecosocialist working group newsletter, it would result in the following cuts:
At the regular Council meeting this morning, during public comment, Tyler Fellini of @jwjpdx.bsky.social noted that the Mayor suggested that the 1/31 teargassing of Portlanders by the feds at the ICE Out Labor Rally was justified by the actions of a few. It was completely unjustified.
In his newsletter this weekend, Councilor Eric Zimmerman (incorrectly) says that the Portland Clean Energy Fund is available to give handouts for Moda Center renovations.
This is a naked attempt by the Portland Business Alliance and its city allies like Zimmerman and Donnie Oliveira to raid PCEF.
i did not think i had anger to spare this week, but the thought of raiding Portland's democratically created climate fund to give a cut to a sports team owning billionaire is making me realize otherwise.
It’s not just an illegal war. That would be bad enough.
Today, the Albanese government clearly admitted they gave our support to a war, without even knowing why it was launched.

“To initiate a war of aggression, therefore, is not only an international crime; it is the supreme international crime differing only from other war crimes in that it contains within itself the accumulated evil of the whole." That’s right
Portland OR is low key the best food city in the country. The amount of delicious food available here on a per capita basis is unmatched anywhere else I've ever been.
Stunning and historic result in the Gordon and Denton parliamentary by-election in the UK.
The anti-genocide Green Party led by Zack Polanski has won the seat from Keir Starmer's governing Labour Party.
Nigel Farage's Reform UK and its odious candidate Matt Goodwin beaten.
Also cool and normal to read that Jeff Swickard can be the primary non-police bank-roller of the petition to permanently divert 25% of PCEF funding to hiring cops, and still be handpicked by Mayor Wilson for this round-table.
Introducing the Eugene Clean Energy Fund (ECEF)! This ballot initiative will take 2% of the profits of the largest and wealthiest businesses in Eugene to fund programs to support climate justice.
Kotek is the “Plunder Oregon” Governor
🚨 Big Oil is lobbying Congress for total legal immunity from any climate laws or lawsuits.
In Oregon, federal immunity for Big Oil would stop critical accountability efforts like MultCo v. Exxon + the Climate Superfund in their tracks.
Urge Oregon's members of Congress to say #NoImmunity! 👇
PGE, Pac and NW Natural rates are all up 50% or more since 2020
If you read local papers you'd have *no* idea Portland is spending less on government per capita than it was six years ago.
The Swiss commentator is telling viewers about Israel’s war crimes that the team’s pilot has openly supported while the Israeli bobsleigh team is racing.
Looking at what's on the table with funds that were found at the PHB... I think it's a good time to remember some of the players in the city.

Idk if this whole pedestrianization pilot is working out. There's too many people now. Can we scare some of them away with cars?
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese defended the decision to invite Israel's President Isaac Herzog to Australia, saying, "When the Jewish community asked for their head of state to visit, I think it is appropriate that people be allowed to mourn."
Look I am not a fan of this arrangement but isn't their head of state King Charles www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...
This should be less understood as "white immigrants are in equal danger" and more "a machine that eats misery will eat everything in its path"
Actually, no economist will make such a statement. The strong consensus of economic opinion is it will make zero difference to the long term economic health of the region. Here is a summary of 130 studies by three of the leading scholars on the subject: scholar.google.com/citations?vi...

We don't *have* to give all the urban space to motorists. It's a choice.
Puerto Rico hasn't had reliable power in a decade.
The grid sends occasional surges through the wires that fry appliances.
