We stand against hate, and strive to deliver a better future.

This weekend, I joined Ukrainians in Bolton to mark the anniversary of the tragic Holodomor genocide.

The event was held at our local Ukrainian Cultural Centre, which provides a home and a community for so many.

Earlier today, the Labour government launched the transformational Veterans strategy:

✅£27m released for a new veteran-wide support service offering guidance and support.

✅New funding for a dedicated wraparound homelessness service.

✅Investing In world-class veterans NHS support.

I managed 2.56 miles in 5mins for the annual IPT poppy ride in association with the Royal British Legion - in boots and a dress I might add!

As a former employee of RBL, I’m incredibly passionate about supporting them and the work they do for our Armed Forces.

Earlier this week, several of the team from Boaz travelled to Parliament to meet with MPs and share our recent report (From surviving to thriving: preventing homelessness in Greater Manchester among people recently granted refugee status).

Congratulations to Lucy Powell on becoming deputy leader of the Labour Party 🎉

I’m proud to have worked with Lucy on the Modernisation committee and know she will steer our party in the right direction, and be a strong uniting voice for our Labour movement.

I held my first "Ask Kirith" event this afternoon, chatting to local residents about anything they wanted to. Community issues were top of the agenda today and how we can make Halliwell safer and better for everyone.

As a Women’s Aid parliamentary champion and co-chair of the Labour Violence Against Women and Girls group, I’m so proud of the action this Labour government has taken.

Claire’s sons, Jack (12) and Paul (9) were killed by their father in a house fire he started 11 years ago this week. He should never have been allowed contact.

It was moving to hear from Claire herself, alongside the choir of children who very bravely performed outside Parliament.

Earlier this week, I joined @womens_aid and campaigner Claire Throssell as the government announced it will repeal the presumption of contact from The Children’s Act.

Polls close at 12pm today.

I was proud to commend the Prime Minister on his strong stance in his speech to Labour Conference a couple of weeks ago and highlight why a particular party opposite does not deserve the chance to govern at Prime Minister’s Questions today 👇🏼

First phase of ceasefire deal to end war in Gaza agreed by Israel and Hamas Donald Trump announces all hostages will be released ‘very soon’ and Israel will withdraw troops to an agreed timeline

The war must now be brought to an end swiftly, and every effort must be made to honour those commitments alongside the immediate lifting of all restrictions on humanitarian aid to Gaza.

We must continue to work towards a two-state solution and reaching lasting peace.

Relief will no doubt be felt around the world for a region that has suffered so much for so long, but more so for those held hostage, their families, and the civilian population of Gaza.

Today’s news of a ceasefire deal is extremely welcome.

I know our Prime Minister and UK Ministers have worked tirelessly to allow us to reach this point, and I commend the efforts of our diplomats who have also worked incredibly hard behind the scenes.

The attacks today in Manchester, on the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, are truly devastating. There is no justification for this and my heart goes out to all those affected.

We will not let hate, or those who spread it, win.
