Unfortunately we are unable to run our winter warmer timetable today. The cold weather has frozen most of our facilities.
Our steam crew did manage to get 6046 into steam first thing this morning, but even it is frozen in multiple places ❄️

Started the day at @chinnorrailway.bsky.social with 47109 Joyce - she’s a fantastic little loco, a Sentinel! My first time riding with her and indeed my first ride on the new independent line!

Been a rather good day in the big box! @chinnorrailway.bsky.social
Quick trip on @chinnorrailway.bsky.social this afternoon to get reacquainted with an S160. Can't say they are my favourite locos, but the whistle is epic! The new independent line is a hugely impressive achievement - great to see the signalling at Princes Risborough all commissioned too.
We are here on Bluesky so you can tag us direct on stories 👋

From one 50 to another, the legend that is 50008 Thunderer is up next! As the coaching stock is vac braked and the loco air, she will work with the stunning 37227 for this run! What a great pairing at the @chinnorrailway.bsky.social !!!
Valiant is coming out to play now! The gorgeous class 50 visiting the @chinnorrailway.bsky.social from the ELR is boarding for the 10:00 departure! Looking forward to this!

A huge thank you to the Risborough North Signal Box team at the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railwa for enabling our Society visit to the box. An interesting and enjoyable time was had by all.
Didn't realise you are an active volunteer - followed back!
This will help the line operationally and represents a big step forward! Well done to all involved.
This is great news and very reportable! Decades of detailed work by Steve, Jamie and the pway gang have at last paid off.
This was dubbed PRIMA 4 (Princes Risborough Infrastructure Materials Acquisition)
Three railway lines that curve to the left. On the left the new Chinnor Independent line which has two rail mounted excavators on it - one near and one in the distance. In the middle, the existing Princes Risborough Reception Line that connects Platform 4 with the Network Rail Thame Branch. The ballast train is on this line. On the right, the Network Rail Thame Branch which connects to Platform 3 of Princes Risborough station.
Two railway lines bottom right curving away to the top left. The line is surrounded by leafless winter trees. On the left, the Independent line with excavators taking ballast from the wagon train. On the right, Network Rail's Thame branch. The ballast wagons are on this line. The Excavators and wagons are bright yellow.
A major step forward for our independent line over the last 2 days. An 18 wagon train brought in 900 tons of ballast that was laid along our 800m independent line, which connects our platform at Princes Risborough with Thame Jcn. The next step is to tamp the track and connect up signalling equipment
Hello Bluesky! My name is James, I’m 26 and I’m a volunteer for @chinnorrailway.bsky.social . Duties include signalling, guarding and occasionally I am allowed on the footplate as an engine cleaner and have a go at firing
Thank you - we're all looking forward to it, too!
