If you ever watch The Boys, you'll never look at Rob the same again!
I love their relationship too, but I like when it grows and we get to see the dynamics with other people. How Dean can grow past the enmeshment and parentification. (Which is also part of the reason why I hate the finale, their growth was gone and it went back to just them)
Why do you hate season seven? I ask with no judgement! I'm intrigued.
I understand! It's hard to rewatch when someone dies. The MOTW podcast I mentioned, I haven't been able to listen to again even though I used to relisten all the time after one of the hosts passed away last year. π
The found family being added is what makes the show click for me. My favorite character are added later on. Cas, charlie, etc
That's ok! I don't particularly like season one...it's rated on the lower end from what I've seen of other fan opinions. I think it takes till s3-5 to start to hit its stride.
I took a break in s8 cause too much Denny talk for me, but I absolutely love how they approach the show and it's how I do my analysis, MOTW is great cause it offers a lot of comedy as well as analysis.
I haven't listened to too much then and now but it is good! fun to see rich&rob realize Destiel.
I highly recommend the Monster of the Week podcast. They cover every episode. And personally they were the reason I learned to love the show again after that finale.
Carrying Wayward is wonderful, they take a queer, academic film analysis approach, one host has sent the show the other hasn't.
Damn! That's fast! It took me almost a year before I could even look at the show again cause I was so hurt by the end.
It has been awesome getting to talk and experience you watch the show! It has been a journey!
Personally, Dean's death Is what makes the finale fail. And no matter what else happens, it can't redeem the finale. It's a failure and shows the ultimate bad massaging this show has decided on.
I know others don't view it that way, and that's fine. I understand.
Introducing characters who think they have a certain fate, showing then grow to accept they don't want/deserve,/have to settle for that fate, and then have them die in that exact same first fate they didn't want, is NOT good writing. In fact, it's horrible. TFW, you all deserved better.
That makes it canon once again!!!!
Lucifer only comes to people as their dead romantic loved ones throughout the whole show.
So twice in a row Cas is canonically Dean's romantic love in the show, canonically
Yeah, but it's a case they picked up from John. But they didn't finish. So it's another stab in the gut of them cleaning up John's terrible meds, and instead of growing past him like this show had shown "I'm good with who I am" John's failures did ultimately get Dean killed.
I know people who have the same view as you. It's fine.
I think that for me, the finale had made me more angry at it's messaging and stupidity over the years than me becoming okay with it?
Like I think most people it faded, but as a writer and teacher of writing, their decicions make me angrier
He's been writing episodes since season four, and it's interesting to see what he's written over the years
I think it's because I know the original ending before the onid hit was that every character who was dead was supposed to greet Dean in heaven.
But instead the found family of the show was completely forgotten about in the finale and they made it all about the brothers. Which I hate that message
Dabb, who was the showrunner of the last four seasons and who wrote the finale is.
I see where they were going, but it's terrible. It's not executed well, and undoes character development.nsontheredirez it does not exist. The fans have written better endings, and I'll hold those in higher esteem personally.
Not gonna lie, that message pisses me the fuck off.
Best part of the finale. It deserves an award
Like with Twilight,bi do think the writers' mormon views snuck in here a lot in these decisions.
I was wondering how you would read that. Cause there is a big divide with that line.
Also, absolutely stupid that Cas isn't there. He would have greeted Dean with Bobby.
Nahhh, I hate all of it. Sure,no know they were trying to bring up nostalgia but as we have seen a million times (most recently in ST) nostalgia doesn't work.
And having Dean die that way he always thought basically means there was no reason for this show. Growth is taken away
Only thing stupid is that it is vampire Mike's that take him out. Stupidest thing the show could have done. Especially since they know the cure to vampirism and they could have saved him like they did before.
Nope! We get it two times in a row, cause fuck us! They must keep making stupid decisions
Terrible ending. It would have. Been flawed but at least 15x19 would have been better. They even had the montage moment. Should have ended there instead of destroying the characters
Devastating shot. Dean carving his family into the table. Making it permanent. Just like he and Sam carved their initials into Baby.
Hate that buckleming had to once again bring back Lucifer. They truly could not let that asshat go.
