My dad used to tell my siblings and me that his favorite sound was silence. I get it now. In the midst of the chaos, in the midst of the turmoil of life in this world and in this head, I sometimes need to remind myself to actively seek silence, and the sounds it lets in.

I do think some of the rhetoric can be problematic. But some communities are removing books from both school libraries and public libraries. And if the response is “It’s not technically banned because you can get it online and sneak it in,” that rhetorical gamesmanship goes both ways.

This is ENRAGING. Not only did they start an illegal war-without notifying Congress-in which 6 American soldiers and many civilians have died, creating chaos because they have no plan for what happens next
But they left Americans in the Middle East completely stranded and vulnerable on top of it

Today’s high school writing club focused on persuasive writing. Some of what I shared for the kids: there isn’t one right way; it depends on the writer’s argument and skill set, as well as the audience. Logic, emotional appeals, and anecdotes are all tools to sharpen. (1/2)
