I wrote that episode (thank you for watching!) and would agree regarding his social media team at the time but will also mention that he had an unpopular opponent (Dr. Oz), and familial wealth that helped him get to where he is now.

Yeah, playing around again. I've been doing stand-up professionally on and off since 2007. Last few years have been mostly putting energy in writing jokes for internet people for money or doing improv since I don't need to write anything.

this is one of the key thing i keep hammering to detractors. you want to shame people for not paying attention to the nuances of the news. most people just do not have the time. theyre at work 9-5, taking care of kids, making family dinner, trying to have a smidge of downtime.
