At the same time, I remember feeling a mix of things, including relief. My life got significantly harder after that (even basic necessities were taken away from me) but I wasn't faking anymore. I embraced my real faith fully, for myself, without masters.

He also banned me from church, because "I tainted it with my presence". So I stopped going, and the other members didn't know the real reason why. They did the most mormon thing they could do, and started coming under my window to sing on sundays like I was some lost sheep, it was humiliating.

When I was 16, I really tried to please my father, because he was violent otherwise. I studied the book of mormon every day, so much that instead I found inconsistencies. So I asked, thinking it would be seen as me being actually interested. He had no answers for me, and I received a beating instead
