Hi #WritingCommunity! Welcome to my #RevPit #MeetTheEditor thread. Feel free to ask questions at any time (if I don't get to them today, I will tomorrow). I had a computer incident earlier (OneDrive deleted my Documents & it took my hubby hours to fix), so I lost my prep time & this may be choppy.

Interesting subject isnβt it? Iβm proceeding with the idea that itβs okay to not be able to write everything as long as you make your choices consciously

For MG I like both magical realism and second world but for adult I prefer second world

Iβm perfectly okay with high word count. In fact I prefer books around 100k. For practical reasons though 120k will be my limit for this contest but after you can send me anything

Neutral. I don't gravitate to them, but if they hit enough of my other likes, I'm happy to read.

Basically, if the major driver for the plot makes me think about specific issues in our current society, I'm no longer thinking about the story. E.g., when I read a book set in medeval Spain, I'm thinking about how Muslims were persecuted. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the question. I get invested in a fantasy world when I read a well-crafted scene that incorporates worldbuilding organically. When the author explores one element and all the ways it affects the character and the rest of the world.

Ah, that's a good question. I like the occasional near future book as long as the story focuses on the characters interacting. My main turnoff with real-world settings is that I keep getting kicked out of the story because things are too close to home. Your description sounds intriguing.

My motto: I will work with what's on the page; no tropes, no preconceived notions of how I think stories should be told. It's all about your vision.

Random things I like (but not necessary):
Nuanced character relationships
Multi-POV
Strong worldbuilding
Inclusion of mental health

I like stories with steady pacing. I want something to change in each chapter, whether that's a "big" plot reveal or a "small" character shifts (the quotes are there because I don't consider anything in a story small; if it works, it's all big).
