Another "unfair tax" on those poor motorists... ๐คญ

The bike racks at Kingston Hospital are always so full, it's crazy they haven't added any more. The only time my husband and I have not got there by bike we've walked - even for operations. There is absolutely no need for every single visitor (or patient) to drive.
Interesting! @kingstoncycling.bsky.social have you seen these before?

Litter pick taking place in Fairfield on Saturday 15 November
Next Fairfield litter pick coming up on Saturday 15 November from 2-3pm in Central Kingston - all welcome! #GreenerKingston #Norbiton
Sunset & supermoon rise on Kingston's Cambridge Road Estate in Norbiton...
Cycling really does give you wings! Watching a toddler soar up front whilst a retired tandem duo found their turbo mode was a definite ride highlight. Magical to see bikes bring out the joy in everyone, at every age, on this fun Kingston ride. @londoncycling.bsky.social @kingstoncycling.bsky.social
Having attended CPR / defib training on Monday, plans to include it in UK driving theory tests seem inspired. Next step to make the Dutch Reach a mandatory part of driving tests too rather than just a Highway Code recommendation..? #SaferRoads #Cycling

Full Cycle in New Malden are offering two Under 18s bike maintenance workshops this summer
Great opportunity for children to pick up practical life skills this summer in Kingston, because you're never too young to learn how to take care of your own bike.
Will Norman speaking at the Share The Joy first birthday celebration
Will Norman tonight on how London Cycling Campaign's Share The Joy fund helps communities: "The people using London's cycle networks still don't represent the city. We have to ensure the benefits are felt by everyone in our city to enable everyone from every background to feel cycling is for them."
This was LOTS of fun! Looking forward to the next family-friendly ride already - more info on tiny.cc/FunRideSept25.
Also because - for style-over-substance reasons - there remains zero signage to say what the structure is for, meaning many Kingston residents still don't even know it exists, & rail users mistake it for a station entrance every single day... ๐คฆ๐ฝโโ๏ธ
When you take Kingston's council leader out for a ride meeting and a driver demonstrates exactly why so many people won't feel confident using a bike locally until cycle lanes aren't seen as a handy parking spot...
Human Forest bike left in the middle of Richmond Park
Lost in a forest? What's the cure. Human Forest bike spotted trying to blend into Richmond Park yesterday...
Fun to finally get to test out Hammersmith Bridge's new cycle and pedestrian lanes as I biked to Beck for a sonically beautiful show at the Albert Hall tonight. ๐ฒ๐๐บ
SWR trains doesn't understand how to create straps that hold bikes safely
Has any cyclist travelling on SWR trains EVER worked out how these ridiculous not-quite-velcro pseudo-straps actually work? Barely stretch to the second bike & definitely never stick together long enough to hold either... ๐ค
"The number one barrier to cycling is consistently feeling safe on the road. [...] Gender should never play a role in whether or not people feel able to choose to cycle."
Yup. ๐๐ฏ
Looks like the article links to www.london.gov.uk/programmes-s...
You're never too old to ride a bike in the Netherlands
Just 5 minutes in Dordrecht was more than enough to disprove the popular British myth that over 60 is too old to cycle. In fact, the 30-60 age group in the Netherlands ride the least, and Dutch women generally use a bike more than men. ๐ช๐ฒ๐ต
Traffic signs and plastic barriers seem to regularly block Kingston's cycle lanes
These photos, taken yesterday, seems a pretty accurate representation of the respect given to cycle lanes across Kingston at the moment, which seem more regularly blocked than I remember. [FYI @kingstoncycling.bsky.social]
A harsh but sadly fair question...
Kingston recycling centre is open to people on foot or bike every Saturday and Sunday from 3.15-4pm
The joy of adding a dead tree* to garden table & sofa on the ever-growing list of things I've taken to the dump on my festival trolley during one of Kingston Council's 45min pedestrian / cyclist weekend windows...

๐ big fat biking boo...
Great that they've finally removed the car. But clearly too much to expect them to tidy up the barriers and actually leave the path safe to negotiate...! ๐ซฃ
Such a touching ceremony honouring the life of @timcyclesthecoast.bsky.social this afternoon. Far too many parallels with my own brother's life. I like to think they've formed the most formidable yet friendly bike-touring pub quiz team wherever their travels have taken them. Top Guns together. โจ๐ดโโ๏ธ๐
๐(tho impressed you went back!)
SO lucky! Tho weirdly we've been luckier with the weather in winter than summer - the unpredictable joys of Britain! ๐
Thanks! Always fun to introduce people to some of the great traffic-free / cycle-friendly routes on their doorstep! ๐ฅฐ
Smiles all round in today's spring sunshine!
