I'm all for moving the date! :) I just think it needs to be a date that's easy to remember starting next year, or it'll get so confusing to artists that they'll revert back to Feb 1st anyway, which would negate the point of moving it from being on BHM's kickoff. I want your changes to be successful.

Sorry to come out of Blueskhibernation for this, but I just found out about the last-minute date change after I'd made plans to do HCD this Sunday. Feb 1st has been an easy date to remember, which I feel contributes to the success of so many artists doing it together... which is the best part of it!

Thank you for confirming that Black artists were requesting the change! Feb 8th feels very arbitrary, though - it's still in Black History month, so it doesn't really serve the original purpose of the move, and it's a forgettable date. Jan 31st/March 1st might make more sense for next year?

Oh, I just realized you were talking about your newsletter service re: 1000 subs. Yeah, that's a LOT to pay for a thousand-person mailing list!! What are you using that costs $40/mo?

That's my big question - how much it costs monthly for X amount of subs. (Hey, 1,000 is nothing to sniff at!!!)

Also thank you for sticking up for people who can't just LEAVE Substack. My newsletter service was $144/mo and I NEEDED to cut that expense. Folks yelling "quit Nazi Substack, there are HUNDREDS of other options!!" are completely naive to how expensive it is when you have a 10k+ sub list!
