A $14B project was likely never achievable because much was FOAK underestimation versus overrun
Regardless, you could build another AP1000 at the same cost as Vogtle (inflated into 2024 dollars) and it would still be <$100/MWh with ITC and LPO: liftoff.energy.gov/advanced-nuc...
Many people said restarting Palisades would be impossible because of the NRC...
... and then the NRC issued a manual for inspecting restarting reactors! www.nrc.gov/docs/ML2403/...
I see this as a helpful example of good faith problem solving
