Never mind the easy jokes about Trump not really being a peace president, something that should have been obvious to anyone with a functioning brain, but somehow was not. This attack on Iran is a tragic, terrible and unforgivable crime.

Once again I'm asking Democrats to take their messaging cues from the sitting Democratic Senator who is the most vulnerable for re-election in 2026

Good read. My hot take: Trump being Trump but improving w non-white voters in 2024 made Rs hubristic about what they could say/do to non-white voters.

Twitter at its peak contained discussions on everything from politics to pop culture to food to literature and beyond. If you really really curate your feed enough, it still has that.

The downside to this site is it was initially filled with political talkers (left only) and never grew beyond that.

Honestly, I would be happy for my taxpayer dollars to pay for this. Let some red-state people see the world outside of their bubble.

But organized, in a way that’s designed to maximize their exposure to the wider world.

See that the rest of the planet is not their enemy.

18.02.2026 16:04 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

This is unequivocally true.

I think you’re correct, but part of this is also that Obama understood if a Democrat has to lie about their internal position on a volatile issue in the short term (to appear more moderate) in order to win an election, that is the right thing to do.

I say this as a huge Weird Al fan raising a huge Weird Al fan: The correct answer is whatever big song of his came out when you were 12.

This is hyperbolic BS, & revolves around an insane notion that this sports issue (a lot of nonsense hyped up by the right) is the be-all end-all of not just trans rights, but all LGBT rights.

Narcissists like you are why mainstream progressives are leaving the left in the toilet where they belong.

Of all the insane fringe takes one encounters in very left social media circles, few more detached from reality than the idea that the US Democratic Party is hostile to trans rights (or queer people broadly).

Cassie’s take here is correct.

The party cannot win over behind who deny these realities.

Thanks! I’ll look into all of these suggestions.

As a gay person with a trans husband, I just want to offer you a polite fuck you to insist that the US Democratic Party is remotely β€œwobbly” on LGBT rights.

Nothing makes me feel like liberals are wearing some magical β€œThey Live” glasses that show them a different reality than everyone else than how obvious it always was that Donald Trump is a mentally ill sociopath, but the median voter simply saw a charismatic (if roguish) populist.

17.02.2026 13:41 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

you have to vote for the democrat in november 2028.

any other option - voting republican, not voting, voting third party - is completely and totally morally unacceptable and should result in your expulsion from polite society

Have you ever once seen the New York Times quote Trump like this?

Opinion | These Three Red States Are the Best Hope in Schooling

"As recently as 2019, blue states had better average test scores than red states, after adjusting for demographics; now, red states are mostly ahead. We used to say that education was the civil rights issue of the 21st century, and if so, we should be ashamed."

I have no idea what you’re talking about. What rules? Joe Biden campaigned (and governed) significantly to the left of where he was probably naturally inclined, in an effort to keep allies like Warren and Sanders happy. But ultimately the left is a minority of Dems, it will compromise more.

the reflexive response in the nyc subreddits to calling out this behavior is β€œmind your own business” and man do i hate that specific New York City behavioral tic

I think about this every time I read a story about a homeless person who died on a bench or in the subway, and was laying there for hours and hours before anyone even actively noticed.

I’m no Stancil, but from my past experience, you only receive niceness on this site if when you say is in line at least 95% with accepted left-wing/liberal politics.

Any deviation will lead to you being piled on in your comments.

The reason the site was doomed to never really take off beyond its original bumble is the problem with all social media: The craziest voices are always going to rise to the top, leaving normal people feeling exhausted and in the shadows.

SM needs impossible levels of moderation to avoid this.

I’ve been deep into planning a trip to China. One week each in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing.

The primary purpose of the trip is to complete my travel bucket list of visiting every Disney theme park, but I’ll also obviously be visiting major landmarks too.

Drop any recommendations you have.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t criticize Dems - of course not - but acting like β€œa mediocre Dem versus an actual fascist” is a tough choice is extremely unhelpful for people trying to build a broad united front against fascism.

16.02.2026 13:47 πŸ‘ 346 πŸ” 48 πŸ’¬ 21 πŸ“Œ 3

PS: In downplaying how progressive America had been in my 46 years of life (certainly on social issues!), specifically the Democratic Party, you minimize what a seismic shift the current MAGA era has been on these fronts.

No scenario where minimizing MAGA fascism ends w/ left-wing politics winning.

We can’t trust anything coming out of this administration. It’s getting tiresome.

Yes, the most exhausting thing about the far-left is responding to their completely fictional version of the Democratic Party (one that is not, for instance, one of the most visibly pro-trans parties on Earth).

And where they believe punishing America with fascism is justified by Dem failures.

yeah nothing says β€œI’m an adult” like screaming about how the America is nothing more than a genocidal racist empire from the very start with absolutely nothing noteworthy about its founding
