I haven’t read anything by him yet, but The Terror has been on my To Read list for a while. (Although the people who recommended it to me did so with the caveat that he’s terrible at writing women). Uh. Doesn’t sound like the most glowing recommendation, does it? 😅 But that’s all I’ve got!

The 3 Inevitabilities:
1. Death
2. Taxes
3. The new hair clip you bought will immediately vanish, reappear months later, then vanish again once you’ve used it twice, only to reappear in the bottom of your bag, then disappear yet again, reappearing one more time after you buy a replacement hair clip

Gōng Xi Fā Cái!! Happy Year of the Fire Horse! Here’s to galloping towards success this year! 🧧🔥🐴
Wanna be a noble Green Shield Druid like Gruff?

Wanna see the consequences if you jam a load of messed up magic metal into your body?
Wanna get your fortune told by the Clever Toad?
Do you enjoy the world we're exploring every Sunday? Bring it to your table!
Started reading Mongrel by Hanako Footman. Given that it’s about mixed heritage ESEA women struggling to belong, and how I’ve often been called a mongrel in my life…I think this is going to be an interesting, challenging and hopefully cathartic read.
Have you got your 10th Anniversary pin? There’s a limited amount of them left - and Teemill have free shipping in the UK this weekend! Check out our anniversary collection!

A new website about PC games, from me, @brendyc.bsky.social and @jonhicks.com.
Reader-supported, which means no ads, no guff, and lots of games blogging about delightful things to play. If you liked our work on RPS, we think you'll like @jank.cool.
Absolutely obsessed with The Séance of Blake Manor. Had everything my brain needs: gothic detective mystery game, Irish folklore, haunted Manor House, odd suspects, gorgeous story beats, striking art style and big old ‘J’accuse!’ moments. Highly recommend it! store.steampowered.com/app/1395520/...
It’s time! Come join us for our Tenth Anniversary stream! We have so many surprises and reveals it store for you as we celebrate this monumental milestone! twitch.tv/highrollersdnd
Ten years have flown by, and I’m so thankful for all the laughter and tears, the nat 1s and nat 20s, our beautiful, inclusive community and the friendship I have with these gorgeous people ❤️
Seeing the art for the Altheya Campaign Guide book slowly come together, getting to give feedback and compliments as it progresses, is AWESOME!
Watching my world come to life through all the different kinds of art is *magical*.

OMG yes, it must’ve been a Jingle Jam dono placeholder! Well, now you’re canon in the campaign as Gruff’s hallucination.
First @highrollersdnd.bsky.social session back…why do I have ASTROPHATHIC written in my notepad? In pencil?

I especially enjoyed:
Ring Shout by P Djélì Clark
Fathomfolk by Eliza Chan
The Eyes are the Best Part by Monika Kim
Bat Eater by Kylie Lee Baker
Old Soul by Susan Baker
Coffin Moon by Keith Rosson
Model Home by Rivers Solomon
The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow
Reading goals for 2026: 80 books?
I somehow managed to read 70 books in 2025! Getting a library card halfway thru the year clearly unlocked something in me. I enjoyed them all (apart from ‘Woman, Eating’ which had the intriguing concept of mixed race vampires, but didn’t really explore it). Highlights in next post…
Love you ❤️ x
A paperback copy of Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett sits on a wooden table.
Book 70: Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett. Felt right to go to Discworld for a victory lap! Ted’s challenge has been vanquished, and with a day to spare.
This copy is probably older than most of followers (it’s a 1995 reprint.) 😅
Book 68: The Empress of Salt & Fortune by Nghi Vo. Beautiful. Keen to keep going with this series.
Book 69: It could only ever be Chuck Tingle & I had his first horror novella - Straight - on my wishlist for ages. Perfect time to indulge, and it was a brilliant slice of queer rage, love and horror.
Two books and one AEW PPV later and I have some regrets.
The books were The South by Tash Aw and The Butcher of the Forest by Premee Mohamed.
2 days, 3 books to go.
Attempted to beat Ted’s Book Reading record this year, which he said was 63 books. I’m on 65. Then, last night; this absolute chad announced his records were wrong and it was actually 69 books. Now the hubristic part of me is picking up this gauntlet and riding to hell. 3 days, 5 books. Let’s go.
A hardback copy of The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow is held up in front of a lit fireplace.
Just finished The Everlasting by Alix E Harrow and it’s the most beautiful book I’ve read this year. Knights, scholars, oaths sworn, the monstrous cruelty of ambition, tragedy, enduring love, and lots of YEARNING. And that’s just the half of it. Read it and don’t read about it: go in blind!
There were two shows! Unfortunately I couldn’t go to the Cardiff one last week, but was always retaining my tickets to this one last night! Twas most excellent
My happy place ❤️❤️ @aewontv.bsky.social
And yes, I spent most of my birthday listening to Sparks, Erasure and any band that sounded similar trying to exorcise this brain worm.
Bom bom diddy diddy, bom bom diddy diddy.
That euphoric relief when you FINALLY figure out what song riff you’ve had stuck in your head for days, and are affirmed as not losing it.
It was ‘Police Encounters’ by Franz Ferdinand x Sparks, the lyric was ‘bom bom diddy diddy, bom bom diddy diddy’ and my best description was ‘it sounds round’ 🤦🏻♀️
