Oh, I love the prewritten content, I just think letting players come up with their own activities would take it more into RPG territory.

I also really like this take, but the role of the announcer is too close to GMing for me to be swayed. (I also don't know enough about wargaming, so I may just be confidently incorrect here lol)
What it needs to get it across the TTRPG finish line is letting players say what their character wants $ for and what they do between the races. Does your character visit the snack bar? Do they do whippits in the parking lot? Do they call their husband and tell them everything's gonna be okay?
I want a Mork Borg reskin where it's called Hot Streak because it's some gruesome tournament where gladiators battle and race atop a thin strip of rock over a lake of lava.
The game also heavily relies on the Magic Circle, falling flat if you just go through the mechanical motions but SINGING as an experience if everyone understands the assignment and gets their degenerate gambler on.
Winning or losing doesn't seem to be as important as the moment to moment chaos management and personal experiences of success.
Lore, narrative, and a sense of place is a big part of the game, with much of the rulebook devoted to providing backgrounds for the mascots and their hometowns
Players have some means of mitigating the randomness, so there's joy in when your plan goes well and comedy when the RNG shatters your best laid plans
There's usually someone running the game, a GM who is responsible for hyping everyone up, keeping the vibes alive, and relaying the consequences of player choices.

Hot Streak is a TTRPG
Have to give a big shoutout to @airportgameway.bsky.social Gameway Video Game Lounges. I was stuck in CLT for 8 hours a few weekends ago and discovered this paradise. Spent the time in comfy chairs switching between Xbox, PS5, and PC games I've been wanting to check out. 5 star experience.
PS I'll be in the playtest zone from 1-4 if you'd like to come say hi ❤️
This weekend will be my first TantrumCon! Looking forward to experiencing a new show and hopefully getting out into the city a bit. Anything (games or Charlotte stuff) I should check out?
Underdog Games put together a fantastic How to Play video for my newest game Quick Paws 🐶🐾🦴 Does a great job showcasing the mechanics and moments that make the game a special treat for dog lovers and gamers of all ages.

Very cool getting to see Solar Gardens in person at #GenCon! Whenever I've been at the Darrington Press booth, I keep hearing "we just demoed this and came straight here to buy it", so it's wonderful to see it connecting with people.
Thanks for grabbing a copy! Darrington knocked the production out of the park, and Alex's design is strong, I'm sure you're gonna love it.
Great write up for Solar Gardens, which is launching right now at #gencon!

It's been a pleasure being a part of the development of it. Stoked everyone can now hate draft for the good of society.
I hope to see you at #GenCon this week(end)! I'll be mentoring in the BIPOC lounge on Saturday, demoing MonsDRAWsity and signing copies in the Friendly Skeleton booth all weekend, and celebrating the launch of Solar Gardens at the Darrington Press booth too (signing copies there Friday 3-4)
Dropping at Gen Con with preorders available now.

I am thrilled to have worked on this game, which has you competing to build green spaces atop skyscrapers in a solarpunk utopia. Doing the theme justice, it's made of biodegradable, plastic-free materials AND a portion of every copy sold goes to planting trees in our National Parks.
Pumped to announce SOLAR GARDENS, designed by Alex Cutler (Critter Kitchen, A Place for All My Books), developed by me, and published by the fine folks over at @darringtonpress.bsky.social

As always, a huge thank you to the family, friends, and playtesters who have played this over the years (and even agreed to be filmed for pitch videos)! I couldn't do this whole game design thing without your support and encouragement. Stay tuned for more updates!
