Cologne is the historic pop music capital of Germany and lots of TV gets made there. The liberal / creative streak is in part put down to the city being the last one that fell to the Nazis. By the time they took it over it had become a refuge for the kinds of people who the Nazis didn't like.
1/2 Here are a couple more observations about Cologne. 1) The locals drink like the English more so than anywhere else in Germany, as in, when drinking, they go for it. 2) If everyone looks like they have just stepped out of a hair salon, TV studio or pop video, it's because they probably have.
2/2 When you don't want another glass, place your beer mat on top of your glass. Kölsch is flipping delicious, btw.
1/2 Papa Joe's Jazz Bar is a classic. You should be aware of the convention with Kölsch glasses. When drinking Kölsch, which is typically served in 0.2l glasses, the waiting staff will replace any glass that is empty without you having to ask for it.

So many venues lost marketing staff during covid and venues haven't recovered yet. The turnover of marketing staff is also extraordinary.
