AJ is reporting that they're hitting Iranian water infrastructure, something I'm sure the gulf states, with their big undefended desalinization plants, are thrilled to hear.

And considering U-Boat commanders used to sink the Convoy Rescue ships *too*
Signalling to the enemy immediately gives your position away to the enemy, which a U-boat is not going to do facing allied airpower and escorts. It means sitting on the surface to transmit too, which is an even greater risk
what *else* does it mean in the mid-atlantic
Having one of those days where suddenly 7500 starts to look like not a lot of words
okay but since we got rid of woke our troops are more powerful you guys are all forgetting that
At a very functional level, a Second World War era U-boat does not have the *space* to accomadate a merchant ships' crew of two or three dozen, let alone the hundreds on even the smallest escorts!
Most people really *didn't*. It was common to standby to pick up survivors during a surface action (Scharnhost, Bismarck, Matapan, etc.) but definitiely not for torpedoings
right I'm getting confident with this now so - Lily Allen's latest album is the Father Ted "and now we move on to liars" speech but for adult women who call themselves "girlies"
Genuinely impressed that these loons did an entire book on gays and failed to pick up traces of an accent (this was 1962, Kenneth Williams, Frankie Howerd and John Inman are well established media personalities) ia601906.us.archive.org/11/items/the...

MAD that anyone wants us more involved in this batshit war. luxury belief!
My university received a few years ago the promise of the largest single gift to a public university in U.S. history. It was equivalent to 12 hours of bombing Iran.
dammit I got beat to the Naked Civil Servant gag
US oil self-sufficiency/rest of world oil continued MidEast dependency really seems to be one of those bits that analysis and discourse have missed. The US loss if Hormuz is blocked is only second-order (related: genuinely wonder if Trump will order domestic gasoline price controls, legal or not)
I worked for years on a campaign to end the handcuffing of children in the care system.
This is in breach of the UN convention of the rights of child, and is simply, truly evil, and I donโt use the word lightly.
choose your adventure in the first picture; additional suggestion for crisis meetings, if your pod shop is blowing up somewhere:
"We're doing the old west in space-" no! NO! I want to do The Great Game in space! Or at least, like, Ice Cold in Alex in Space
AND INTRODUCING
JOHN HURT
AS
THE WAR QUEER
A friend was complaining to me about the sanctimonious use of "illegal war" yesterday, which made me ask what post-1945 interstate wars that have been legal in the context of UN charter. I'm getting Korea, the Falklands, 1991 Gulf war and the 2011 intervention in Libya. Other opinions?
It's fine. I think a hard reboot of the setting a la BSG would be a smarter way to revive it than anything else, but tbf "do your own version instead of screwing with existing iterations is basically heresy these days"
My two cents on Firefly discourse is that it is a kind of Harry Potter situation where revulsion at the author and dislike of the (deliberate!) problematic tropes in the storytelling are both very legitimate and alsp have resulted in a rather hyperbolic discourse on the other 90% of the substance.
BBC Question Time host Fiona Bruce was left stunned due to the live audience's reaction after being asked if they believed the UK should be involved in the war in the Middle East
there are like 50 people in the country who want the UK to get involved in the Iran War, one of them is Kemi Badenoch, one of them is Nigel Farage, and the other 48 are newspaper columnists
It is acc kinda depressing that he thinks a liberal tory who is ok with trans ppl and doesnt like racism is a contradiction. its like a nuclear wasteland happened and we erased all memory of cameron but the damage he created
Lot going on there. Perhaps too much.
