I am self-employed and between my premiums and my copays, I will spend almost $20k on healthcare this year. I thought the GOP was supposed to be the party that was pro-entrepreneurship, but at these rates most people canβt afford to try to start a business.
...and the US is murdering innocent children. I mean, if we want to talk about the true COSTS of war.

He was a delight. As was Carl Kassell. You've really been blessed with some amazing talent over the years.
Exactly. That's how it always works. And if I didn't order new checks, I'd never find it.
Update: After turning my house upside down, I just ordered new checks. Reminds me of the year I hid my Halloween candy to slow my roll eating it and months later my mom found candy bars wedged up in the drapes when she did spring cleaning.
Have you ever hidden something so well you're unable to find it? I moved my checkbook a few weeks ago when I had workers in my house and damn if I can find it now. I've looked EVERYWHERE.
So much unnecessary death. Heartbreaking.
Nice! How much was in it and how were they able to open it?
I had a dream that gas was $14/gallon at the pump and that was finally the thing that caused his supporters to wake up.
I love that my pool does an event called "eggs for everyone" and if you want to participate you're supposed to bring six eggs filled with treats for kids and six eggs filled with mini-bottles and lottery tickets for adults. Not exactly how I think of southerners celebrating Easter, but hey.
Does it mean I'm old if I'm listening to an all strings version of "Sweet Child of Mine?" Cringe.

So nice to see someone properly use "home in" instead of "hone in" for a change. #PetPeeve
Longshot: Anyone want to help my mailman's gofundme for IVF? He's one of the nicest, most cheerful people. I'd love it if they're able to do this.

How were they not a thing when we were growing up? Casseroles with a can of soup? Yes. A healthy spread of veggies and meat on a pan? Inconceivable.
Woof. And I think it's even worse in the US. I'm doing my part β so far I've read or listened to 33 books in 2026. It's the only kind of consumption I don't feel guilty about! #WorldBookDay
My sister sent me daffodil bulbs for my birthday last fall and the first one is blooming today! What a perfect gift: I got to enjoy the possibility of it when I opened it, the planting of it in the fall, and now the blooming of it five months later... and every year!
Just had to complete a background check for a client. Only after I hit submit did I remember that I got arrested in 2020 for civil disobedience. I'll be curious to see if it shows up on my record, and if the client has an issue with it. π€
If Voldemort and Kristi Noem are any indication, when you make a deal with the devil, the first thing to go is your nose.
If only there were some way to prevent this...
SIGH.
IDIOTS.
Meanwhile, we are spending billions on warehouses and weapons for use here on our own land for ICE. It's obvious how this guy has bankrupted everything he's touched.
This is amazing.

Nope. Dunning-Kruger Effect at play.
I regularly wear a necklace that is the silver outline of the District. Without fail, someone will ask, βWhat state is that?β Which gives me the perfect opening to say, βitβs not one, but it should beβ and then launch into a case for #DCStatehood. Highly recommend.
Itβs 27 degrees out and Iβm meeting friends to play pickleball at the park in two hours. I think this winter has confirmed we are nuts.

Nice! I usually end up paying about $650/year out of pocket because only the routine mammogram is covered and I usually have to go back for follow up imaging because of dense/fibrous tissue. I think a lot of people would just roll the dice until their next free annual screen.
