Now remembering @auntyfoxspirit.bsky.social published an anthology about women creating men. Though as mother of a son my first thought was that's just regular life, but appreciate you're talking about a different, specific context.

A geeky individual, passionate about books, TV and the fantastical. Has an active imagination and a liking for history (especially in podcasts). Does environmental campaigning sometimes. One half of @dtdiscworld.bsky.social podcast. Probably tired. She/Her

Also happens in Rocky Horror
And, the media is 100% complicit in this, the language that they have used to demonise and devalue black and brown people around the world while covering for the violence and lawlessness of rich white people and politicians is disgusting.
If (almost) every news outlet closed, we'd be richer for it.
Paging @davegotsu.bsky.social might be worth considering if Kid has any future library sessions with his class
UK arts must not be sacrificed for speculative AI gains, peers say
Myself & @davegotsu.bsky.social are hoping to go there one day with Kid (who hasn't been to a con since he was literally a baby), but not sure which day yet.
I can't tell if doing admissions there would be really easy (just wave them through) or a real pain as everyone would fill in a form very badly.
There's still time to apply to be a @birminghamfoe.bsky.social Board member. Applications are particularly welcome from young people. If you don't think you're qualified enough, take that as a sign to apply anyway - we want our Board to truly represent people who care about climate justice in Brum.
This thread is very revealing. I've understood jokes in French on occasion, but only because there were pictures or it was a joke format I already knew. Because I have no fluency in French, I just know some words and phrases and can figure some stuff out, on occasion.
If youβve never written to your MP before, maybe you donβt know who they are, go to www.writetothem.com.
I deleted the thread on emotional crash outs because I can say it more succinctly like this:
Check on your emotionally reserved friends. A lot of us don't express distress openly and many people mistake that for invulnerability or hypercompetence. I find that especially true among trans people.
Afternoon Womble, I'm reading The Adventures of Mary Darling by Pat Murphy, which I bought from @tachyonpub.bsky.social at World Fantasy Con. Not far through it, but enjoying it so far, especially in showing a diversity of experience and how women might have to work around men.
Hey @alasdairstuart.com I finally got around to showing Dave the Brass Against cover of Epic, since he's such a fan of the original song. Thanks for sharing it on your Newsletter.
Watching The Life of Chuck, and I've said 'Oh, it's him!' or 'Is that whatsherface?' at least 7 times. It's kinda helped with the initially bleak mood.
The feed for my city shows a flight had to turn around and come back here as the bombing meant they couldn't get to their destination. So doesn't sound like they get advanced warning, but equally I don't think they're close enough for dodging.
For the weekend crowd, our Carpe Jugulum episode is here
It's witches vs vampires, in a book that's a low-key sequel to Small Gods, and features the final Weatherwax ending. Including genre-savvy vampires and the varied roles of witches.

We have just released our Carpe Jugulum episode, with the final Weatherwax ending, and wow was there a lot to say, especially about Granny.
Also, definitely seen various jokes this time around that I didn't get before. There's 2 in The Fifth Elephant I didn't even clock as jokes when I was young.
A four-panel collage pairs characters from The Golden Girls with names of Greek goddesses. The top left shows Dorothy labeled βAthena.β The top right shows Rose labeled βDemeter.β The bottom left shows Blanche in a red dress labeled βAphrodite.β The bottom right shows Sophia labeled βHecate.β Each name appears in large colored text over the corresponding characterβs image.
Hmm, so I have an autoimmune condition linked to increased risk of osteoporosis, but was only ever told to have plenty of calcium. Then they did a bone density scan at 18 which was fine, and that was kind of it. I'll need to work up to weights, but it's certainly something to read up about.
This feels very relevant to my last post, and why I gotta keep doing these exercises, resentful though I am about it.
Been saying I need to exercise more for a bit, and have said it more than done it. Just tried a short workout that seems to cover most of the necessary areas. I feel so tired, but I suppose I must persevere until it stops feeling terrible.
KC Davis' point about the demon exercise is v relatable.
Just listening to my podcasts while working, didn't skip ahead quick enough, and I get the Ghoul from Fallout advertising Go Daddy AI to me. Like what is this? He doing the cheesy thumbs up while recording? Also I only know the Go Daddy logo from 00s, when it looked real 90s, so it feels like a skit
A large rainbow with an NHS logo in the bottom corner dumped behind the bins outside a suburban house.
"Get me an image that sums up the post-pandemic era."
"Here you go, boss."
"No, that's too on the nose."
Witches vs vampires in Lancre, and Granny is having trouble fitting 4 into 3. Omnian priest Mightily Oates is in 2 minds about most things, but does the decent thing. There's vampiric fascism & an examination of who makes necessary but unpopular choices in a community

Streets in new housing developments should be legally required to be named after which bit of the local ecosystem they destroyed. 'Lost Badgers Set Avenue'. 'Exterminated Glow Worm Lane'. 'Paved Over Wildflower Meadow Esplanade'.
Having recently finished editing the longest episode of @dtdiscworld.bsky.social I will soon have to edit the new longest episode, which will likely be our first 2-parter. Not going to get caught up if we carry on like this.
Our upcoming Carpe Jugulum episode is the longest one we have released so far. Now that we are recording The Fifth Elephant, it's clear Carpe Jugulum isn't holding that record for long.
There just a lot going on in these books, even apart from them being a kind of Uberwald duology.
Why do I have to pretend that I'm going to print something in order to save it as a PDF. Why do I have to engage in a little ruse.
Yesterday a friend bought their 11 month old baby round. Today I went to visit my 4 month old niece. So plenty of baby-watching last couple days. I did a fair bit of walking today and some exercises, as I'm trying to do more intentional exercise, so I'm rather tired now.
