What does ‘should have’ mean in this context? He *could* have won, had he converted one of his match points, but he didn’t. There is no justice in sport except the scoreline

I honestly can’t tell if this is a bit. The sound is in the word. There is a letter in Polish that doesn’t exist in English, and that is how it is pronounced.
