Good luck Sarah ! Sending strength and hugs. Literally had this meeting today at Canadian government (outcome was good for me) so sending solidarity ❤️
Hurray!!
You probably know about this but just in case - Canada has “Research Impact” chairs for world leading researchers interested in coming to Canada
Congrats! Big fan of your work so looking forward to reading all that comes from this!
Loved this one! Very inspirational
Dream count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi ; also ”tomorrow, tomorrow and tomorrow” by Gabrielle Zevin and non fiction I read “careless people” which was kind of disturbing but gripping! Currently re-reading philip pulman book of dust in anticipation of putting the final instalment on my Christmas list!
How I wish I could attend! Good luck with the organisation !
Been there done that 🫣
So happy to see this out! We have data on 5,000+ voters and 26,000 candidates exploring the effects of sexism across 4 countries 🇨🇦🇺🇸🇬🇧🇦🇺
TLDR: gendered patterns of political competition strongly shape success rates of women candidates. Sexism may lead to voter abstention in the US.
More in the paper!
Congratulations! 🥳
I’m very interested in studying preferences on parental leave and wrote something short on it - would be interested in any leads on further data or cool papers I should be reading!

That’s so kind - it’s mutual, if only I could live in two places at once!
Highly recommend applying! It’s a supportive department with great colleagues and a strong comparative group!
This looks like a brilliant and super interesting book - if you’re lucky enough to be in London UK and interested in gender / quotas / comparative politics / LA or all of the above you should go to the launch!
Thrilled I finally have an achievement that can be featured on our family fridge 😂 thanks @ajpseditor.bsky.social
Happy women’s day Catherine! Thank you for always lifting up other women in academia and beyond! 🚺
I’ve been saying it’s so nice and warm out now it’s just below zero which makes me feel integration into Canadian winter is going well
Is this for real? 🤯 probably a bad sign that I can’t tell anymore
But did you get the shot of maple syrup?
I think we should take this story from the Times today (and picked up by many other outlets) with an enormous pinch of salt for two reason (mini thread):

With our first child my husband and I took shared parental leave (SPL) in the UK - it was a great experience, but financially costly.
It shouldn't be that way in my view. So take the opportunity to share your experiences with SPL with the gov. here:

Sadly I don’t have tips - never written a book 😬 but given the big populism/radical right scholarly community in the Netherlands there must be lots of interest I would think!
