It’s not so rare during batting practice for the home run derby. The customers on the concourse aren’t used to it either, and it was carnage. I saw at least 6 beers spilled, from passerby’s being sniped by fucking lasers 400 ft from home. Fielder just wrecking people. It was incredible.

So at the home run derby, the concourse opens up a few hours early so people can spend money and watch batting practice. Our back was to the field, but luckily we had some plexiglass behind us so we don’t get domed serving customers. Plus a ball being hit where we were is rare…

For the home run derby, i got to work in a small concession stand right past right field selling cheesesteaks with the 2 daves (bobs maybe, name doesn’t matter but they were legends with the same name who always had that spot). Bc of the special event, I was the extra hand to help handle orders.

Mostly unrelated, but short story I worked there doing concessions over the summer in 09. They had the all-star game which rocked, I made more funnel cakes that day to last a lifetime. 1/
