The worst thing about being arrested on your birthday is it rules out the possibility of getting a cake with a file in it for another 364 days.

Lovely and very best wishes for your research. Forgive me but the Yorkshire landscape is an upgrade to the Fens!
It’s sublime
Super pic. Some cool graffiti in the women’s baths if I remember rightly.
way too niche to put in my review but: wow, if you enjoyed the pacing of the ending to The Return Of The King [Extended Edition], you're going to love Melania (2026)!
I was there the last time the mosaic was exposed a long time ago. No pics though sorry.
I’m just reading Echolands and wondered what you thought of it. Great post.
Michael Grant The Roman Forum.
another robot highlight for 2025: man wearing humanoid mocap suit kicks himself in the balls
Happy Christmas. Would love to finally get to see you next year!
A bit Mary Jane like. I didn’t know they did this. Will try again.
I’ve just discovered this one which is surprisingly good.
I have to go there. Massive bucket list item. I’ve been to Pompeii so often but getting to Baia seems like a real pain.
Was this the only piece on display?
It’s on tour. It was in Leeds a few weeks ago. Sensational piece.
Thoughts and prayers. Be strong!
Villa Arianna and Villa San Marco also highly recommended. Also museo libero d’ orsi. Also a walk along the lungomare At Castellamare di Stabia. The above would make an excellent full day.
Just this one.
Topographic super deluxe?
Random ancient thing. Red walls from the house of the red walls, Pompeii.
The thing I wasn’t expecting was the feeling of delirium after the goal. Felt like far more than a usual goal celebration. A crazy release of tension and an almost stunned realisation that we might win a game. The story is far from over but that feeling of relief was amazing.
The Japanese do a great diploma! And many congratulations to you.
Very beautiful cat. Enjoy.
@pompei79.bsky.social visited my old friend Umbricius Scaurus today and saw the sea gleaming beyond his tablinum like I’ve never seen before. Easy to imagine him watching his garum ships set sail from his house. A Pompeii moment.

It’s awful when your first thought is never mind the archaeology just get out of there! Full credit to them though for their passion, belief and bravery.
Tricky vote that one!
