The Dow Jones industrial average was over 50,000 the day Pam Bondi said Congress shouldn't bother asking her about covering up sex crimes of powerful people because the Dow was over 50,000. Since that day it's dropped significantly below 50,000. Also, it was always stupid obviously, but it's still amusing. Jail the criminals.

Are we allowed to ask Pam Bondi about Epstein now?

Tax evaders love this guy.

The most flagrantly law-violating administration in the history of the nation: fires an operator after a year of flagrant law-violation at the express direction of the administration because she accidentally said something true.

An actual senator: "See? Lawlessness doesn't pay boys!"

Lol she wasn't fired for lawlessness hahaha are you serious?

While many of you are likely enamored with what CEOs are eating, I'm enamored with eating CEOs.

Any time I post on here and it gets a like or two I'm immediately gratified that someone liked my good post but then almost instantly afterward reminded that, oh, so they can see all my other posts and I guess those just suck.

There'd be way less scolding if bluesky were truly an echo chamber.

To be clear, I'm not rooting for the GOP. I'm saying they could end this nightmare decade right now, reshuffle the deck, and remake themselves in whatever image they wanted. They couldn't before. This admin. has finally committed too many own goals in too quick succession. It's a spine question now.

If the GOP Congress turned on the jets, even without a charismatic voice, they could churn the tottering right-wing media machine against a deeply vulnerable administration. Trump has no successor. Hegseth, Noem, Patel, Rubio, Vance are imploding. They could take their party back if they wanted it.

There has never been a better set of circumstances for Congress to take back their Constitutional power. They have the Courts on their side, they have the Executive fighting losing public opinion wars on at least four fronts (Iran, ICE, Epstein, Prices), and they have the actual law. Will they? (no)

Also of really interesting note to me: despite the fairly famous failure at Tattered Cover, Kwame kept the store's old coffee menu board and had it (shop name and all) behind his head in zoom meetings for most of the time I've known him. There's something telling there, I think.

In a weird small world thing, I've gotten to know Kwame a bit through totally unrelated work he's doing that intersects with mine. Dude is unquestionably smart and strikes me as growth-inclined. But also, hard not to be fascinated by a guy who's next act is opening ANOTHER bookstore, of all things.

Happened over to Twitter by accident but got a bit drawn on by the fascination factor. Can't even tell who anyone is over there anymore. The leopards have eaten all the faces, and all that's left is a bunch of confused, faceless people.

Second life for a favorite of mine, "La Perla de Gran Precio."

This story was born from a @twistinthetale.bsky.social prompt, was first published in @intrepidusink.bsky.social, and renews in @trashcatlit.bsky.social. Grateful to each.

What would you give up to avoid losing what's most precious?

Muhammad Ali said, in the middle of what appears to have been an off the cough speech in which he almost laughed at himself one rhyme before, "Just last week, I murdered a rock!" And what I'm saying is is true sports isn't what it used to be.

Yeah idiots following the law is for losers. There is absolutely nothing more important to us than the law and we'll do anything it takes to enforce it, including breaking the law if necessary or even just if we want to.

Tbh I often wonder in hindsight if she was trolling me or just trying really hard to impress me and I can't tell you which one would have bothered me more. Or... Impressed me? I honestly remain quite befuddled by this incident. It's been 16 years.

Once I was dating this girl and we went to the gym together the morning after the NBA all-star game and the highlights were on the TV and I saw some big old dunks and laughed in amazement at two of them. This girl then laughed heartily at every other highlight and I've never been more embarrassed.
