It looks like @jimwebber.bsky.social has!
While also building up our mechanical sympathy by experimenting with Java features from project Panama to see if we can get better at constructing performant data-structures in Java that map onto modern cloud hardware. Getting this far has already been a team effort! 🎉
Our starting point is to establish a core philosophy of "simple and efficient enables scalability". As part of this first phase of the project we will analyse the Cypher queries running across the AuraDB fleet to understand our design space.
We will do this through audacious challenges, community engagement, and most importantly talking about our journey through the project.
The technical side of the Aurendil project is about exploring new ways to build future cloud-based graph databases. While aiming to demonstrate research leadership in the database field to bring folks into database research and implementation.
We are pleased to have our new team join us to work on implementing a new runtime system, JIT compilation, and optimisation techniques for Cypher queries. Welcome! 👋
This month, we have officially kicked off the Aurendil project in @neo4j.bsky.social Research and thanks to a @ukri.org FLF grant award we are looking forward to stepping up and producing some world-class research!
