7) I killed him before he could kill me.
The different justifications US has given for war so far
1) Israel started it, US joined
2) US forced Israel's hand
3) It's about nuclear weapons
4) It's about ballistic missiles
5) It's about regime change
6) It's about pre-emptive strikes
#IranWar #disinformation
2/2 A common thread here (except for Carlson) is to seemingly create pressure for the Gulf states to join offensive operations against Iran either through necessetiy (low patriot stocks, already bombing), another to create tension between the GCC and their neighbours.
1/2 To break it down:
1) WaPo claimed Saudi had lobbied Trump to bomb Iran
2) Bloomberg claimed UAE/Qatar were running out of interceptors
3) Tucker Carlson claimed KSA & Qatar arrested Mossad agents planning a bomb
4) Channel 12 claimed Qatar had bombed targets inIran #IranWar
Good rule of thumb, always distrust information if it comes from someone without any obvious background in news and current affairs, is anonymous, and whose bio includes Crypto, AI, and an emoji of any description. #IranWar
Indeeed! Cats are living like kings, and queens :)
Look at him, lying there like a big eediot
To everyone who has checked in on me, thank you. I am fine and safe, and lucky in many ways. I am stuck in Amsterdam (could be worse). I was visiting UvA for a great workshop on influence operations. I want nothing more than to get back to my cats and home in Qatar.
Not one word of condemnation from Keir Starmer about the US and Israel starting an illegal war
Tally so far in the war that Trump & Netanyahu started: Hundreds of Iranians dead (incl. schoolgirls), 3 US Marines KIA, $250M in downed American jets, m/billions in damage to Gulf allies, several killed in the Gulf and Israel.
Other than that it's going really well.
"Pre-emptive strikes" are ultimate white privilege
crime by Israel and the US). But bear in mind many of their views are shaped by anti-imperialism, perceived US collaboration in Bahraini government repression of the Shia community, and the the role of the US (and formerly British) presence in sustaining Al Khalifa's centuries-long repressive rule.
Gonna be lots of reductive Bahrain = Sunni vs Shia takes in the wake of protests in some places in the country. Bahrainβs Shia community is not a monolith, although many would understandably feel outrage at the assassination of Khameini (I myself feel non-pious outrage at the egregious war
Guardian at pains to point out there was an IRGC base in the same city as the girl's school where over 100 were killed by Israel and US. Never saw this kind of reporting when it came to Hamas missile strikes
Thank you so much ππ
Iran agreed to talks? You mean the ones they were already doing when you and Israel attacked?
Thanks Emma. Stuck in Amsterdam actually and cant get back
I geolocated the mosque in this viral video from a notoriously inaccurate 'OSINT' account.
It is not in #Qatar. It is the Mosque on the Eastern side of Hoora cemetry in #Bahrain 26.23092872900335, 50.585565184198046
Israel?
Iran is an awful regime, but so are those in Israel and the United States in terms of harm caused. So should that also be mentioned in reporting of the war?
In a career first, I am proud to have received credit on the latest episode of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver. I was consulted regarding Elon Musk and X's involvement in the Southport disinformation and the subsequent riots. You can watch the episode here:
