Ten years ago today

I was today years old when I learned that scissor-tailed flycatchers (Oklahoma official state bird) are routinely seen in the Yucatan peninsula during winter. 🐦 🇲🇽 ❤️

I recently joked with a coworker that Vibe Coding has been around a long time, except that it used to be done during an outage due to some existing terrible code requiring a fix in the middle of the night, and back then it was called Rage Coding. 😉

Okay, I am tired. I walked out of the NWC with Chris Karstens, but when I saw him my brain said @plustssn.autumnsky.us, so I began chattering away complimenting him on his aurora photos. Afterward, I told Chris "Hey, it could be worse. At least I didn't call you @pmarshwx.com!" 😉

A screenshot from the currency selection pop-over dialog on a payment website. It has the header "Currency" and says "Select your preferred currency to pay with". Below that is a text box to type and search. Below the text box is the top of an alphabetical list of national currencies from around the world. The mouse cursor is in the text box, and a pop-up of browser-suggested items is displayed. The items include "brush", "toothbrush", "filter", "remote", "coffee", and "usb", all of which obviously have nothing to do with the search box intent.

Earlier this month, when paying a bill online, I happened to click the "Choose Currency" button for the payment website. The web browser's suggested choices for currency were, um, interesting.

On 21-22 Oct 2005 this weather station set the Western Hemisphere 24-hour rainfall record, 1633.98 mm (that's over 64.3 inches in 24 hours!) during Hurricane Wilma.

What caught my eye was that there was a bee on this sunflower, but it flew off the instant before the photo snap. Have a bee-utiful day, friend.

TIL that bread pudding is big in Mexico and the rest of Latin America. At a supermercado in Moore, OK, in the pan dulce area, there was this stuff called budin de pan. It's bread pudding made of previous day's leftover rolls + lots of coconut and cinnamon. OMG SO GOOD. Tasty rabbit hole of learning.
