Yes, but I feel he still tries to match all "pragmatic" actions of the practitioners with the ideological core. My point is that many self-proclaimed conservatives are not conservative (in ideological terms), same for social democrats or liberals/libertarians.
I do think he gets a bit lost in trying to construct an understanding that captures both philosophers and most of the prominent practitioners. I'm not sure this is ever possible - irrespective of the ideology - nor necessary. Ideologies are worldviews and always require compromise in the real world.
This is a very rich text, thanks for bringng attention to it. I'll need to digest and reflect more, but agree with many points.
