is extraordinary a synonym for illegal?
If you read the bill, it attaches liability to the chatbot answer ONLY IF the same answer would attach liability to the person making the same statement.
Complicated new issue but seems AI companies want Section 230 type immunity. I don’t think that’s where the public (and juries) are, at all.

“The drones that hover over the skies of Lebanon…collect large swathes of data — Wi-Fi, IP addresses, phone signals — which are then organized by AI…in what some scholars and activists say amounts to a “digital occupation.” Fascinating by @justinsalhani.bsky.social

If the government gets to decide if you have them, they're not human rights.
Quietly, calmly and forensically, BBC just dismantled the Trump communications shitshow on Iran.
No hyperbole, just laying out an unprecedented military, diplomatic and reputational shambles.
Worth a watch.

I wrote about how the US and Israel carried out an attack on an Iranian girls school on par with the OKC bombing and US media relegated it to a back page story. No stand alone evening news segments, no front page stories, it made A11 in the NYT then everyone moved on.
The girls’ school in Iran, where 165 people were killed by an apparent US-Israeli attack, was hit with two strikes, with the second missile killing sheltering survivors, two first responders and the parent of a slain child have told Middle East Eye.
A Canadian journal has issued corrections on 138 case reports it published over the last 25 years to add a disclaimer:
The cases described are fictional.
As the laid off Middle East News Editor, I concur. Management eliminated the positions of every single staff correspondent and bureau chief in the Middle East.
100 accounts are behind majority of conspiracy theory content in Canada www.nationalobserver.com/2026/02/25/n...
"...analyzed over 14 million social media posts from accounts in Canada, and found that 87% of conspiratorial claims come from influencers."
Those on "X were the biggest culprits."
Who bombed the school?
All the breaking news is leading too many news organizations to bury essential facts like 1) Trump’s reasons for attacking were all lies and 2)The whole thing is illegal by domestic and international law.
Question: could medical boards at least step in & take away these doctors' licenses? That seems like an absolute bare minimum next step towards accountability. Will they take action? If not, why not?
(I'm not in clinical practice in the US & don't have a sense of whether the US boards "have teeth")
The American bombardment of Iran has been launched without explanation, without Congress, without public support. Above all it has been launched without a coherent strategy for the Iranian people, and without a plan to let them build a legitimate Iranian state.

I could be wrong here but doesn’t this just seem like the “mow the grass” strategy in a different field?
A social media post from Donald J. Trump on Truth Social, posted 9 minutes ago. The text reads: "Iran tried to interfere in 2020, 2024 elections to stop Trump, and now faces renewed war with United States:" followed by a link to justthenews.com. Below is a link preview showing the article headline "Iran tried to interfere in 2020, 2024 elections to stop Trump, and now faces possible war with U.S." accompanied by a photo from what appears to be an Iranian protest or rally, showing demonstrators holding anti-Trump signs and posters with Persian text.
I am going to need every single person who said that misinformation was a moral panic to feel enough shame and regret that they leave public intellectual life.
The military invasion of Minnesota did not go as planned, so now the administration has decided to give economic sanctions a try.
This recent RCT of an "AI stethoscope" claims the technology "shows promise" for diagnosing cardiovascular conditions.
It does not.
It is a textbook example of the risks of conducting unprincipled 'per protocol analyses'. Once again, peer review at a major medical journal has failed.

The structure of our contemporary information ecosystem is what dug the hole that is this political moment. These changes at the FCC and FTC will make it even harder to dig ourselves out.
Legally Creative, Democratically Dangerous: Trump’s Plan to Twist the News
Many are appropriately outraged by Altman’s comments here implying that raising a human child is akin to “training” an AI model.
This is part of a broader pattern where AI industry leaders use language that collapses the boundary between human and machine.

I don't have the long history of it, but research on this phenomenon of "search engine data voids", funded in part by some of the large search engine vendors, is between 7-10 years old now; and the problem only seems to have gotten worse by the intentional product design decisions of those companies
Bloomberg: "The Justice Department’s investigation of Netflix Inc.’s proposed $72 billion takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. includes scrutiny of whether the streaming giant’s behavior wields anticompetitive leverage over creators."
The U.S. press is 100% going to help the Trump DOJ pretend its "antitrust inquiry" into Netflix is in good faith, in order to transfer ownership of Warner Brothers (and CNN, HBO, Discovery) to Trump's friend Larry Ellison
