Don’t worry, they’ll switch back to active voice when Iran or Russia do a strike.

You also do not need to declare your support or opposition to the Iranian government to oppose the bombing.

Do you think the 50+ girls killed when we bombed a school are feeling liberated right now?

Delayed flights are not the biggest concern right now. They bombed a school and killed dozens of kids.

I think defund is too vague because it leaves open the potential interpretation as “reduce funding for but maintain the police”. “Abolish the police” is clear.

I forgot Israel stopped killing Palestinians in January 2025.

If you are serious about "never again" then remember: it's not about standing up to a line of tanks when the camps are already running. It's about standing up to social & professional pressure when the whole thing is just getting started, when it's not yet cool to do so. That's bravery that matters.

Please do not sully the name of Luddism by associating it with these people.

I think it’s only high schools. But as a UNH student, there are plenty more reasons to avoid coming here.

Yes let’s honor the “champion of free speech” by making it illegal to talk about ideas we don’t like.

The only way for AI to “offset” the energy required to train humans is for the ai to fully replace us. Not just in the workplace, but our existence.

Two things are simultaneously true:
1. The Iranian regime treats its people with extreme brutality and cruelty, and we should honour the citizens seeking to overthrow it.
2. A US attack on Iran would turn a crisis into a catastrophe.

Well yeah, people might be more supportive of a project that creates well paying jobs. AI data centers are being built for the exact opposite purpose.

This was also what they said about Obama.

When my city was voting to take $500k from the parks budget to hire more cops, I had my mic shutoff and was yelled at by the mayor because halfway through my 3 minutes I mentioned the number of people killed by our pd in the last year.

Perhaps there are use cases where LLMs could be useful, but I simply do not believe they have any positive net value. Even if you could identify those use cases, you can’t separate them from the absolutely insane environmental impact required to generate the outcomes.

Wow, this is exactly the kind of utopian leftist fantasy talk that got trump elected. How do you sleep at night?

are real harms, unlike other moral panics say about child grooming to justify exterminating LGBTQ people.

Thinking through my own logic a bit more the obvious answer is that we should have stricter regulations on harmful content on social media in general so that it is a safe place for youth

Sorry, I didn’t click through to read the full context. Your comment I replied to was just on my man feed. I do agree with you on the true motives behind the bans (they outright admitted here in the US with the TikTok ban). I think what’s different here is that the harms the bans purport to solve

Maybe banning kids from social media would be like banning kids from the mall, while we still encourage access to Wikipedia/the public library.

18.02.2026 11:37 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

Yeah, fair point, and libraries are a poor comparison because they are public entities without profit motive. A better analogy would have been a bookstore that had those books in a mall where there are also many vendors selling weight loss pills and modeling opportunities.

18.02.2026 11:34 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

Are the bans only about illiteracy though? I encourage my kids to read, obviously, but if my library had shelves of books on how and why they should kill themselves I probably wouldn’t allow them to go there unsupervised.

Not to mention that the “answers” given by the bot are prone to hallucinations and very well may be outright wrong.

Death panel @deathpanel.bsky.social
404 media podcast @404media.co

Except for death panel, these ones focus largely on technology and its intersection w/ pretty much everything.

We can’t do good things because that’s socialism, and socialism leads to gulags. However, doing gulags without good things is fine for some reason.

I’m pretty tech savvy, and have a few self-hosted services that I access on my home network. At first I had set up a reverse proxy so I could access while away from home. I never confirmed any malicious activity but my home internet became very slow so. Maybe coincidence but not worth the risk.

"The day of accountability will come": Rep. Delia Ramirez on abolishing and prosecuting DHS The Handbasket spoke with the congresswoman who called out ICE long before it was popular.

NEW — I spoke with Rep. Delia Ramirez (@ramirez.house.gov) about her calling DHS leaders "inheritors of the Klan hood and the slave patrol," the prospect of one day seeing them behind bars, and what it's like to see the public [finally] embrace her long-held dream to abolish ICE.

"The day of accountability will come": Rep. Delia Ramirez on abolishing and prosecuting DHS The Handbasket spoke with the congresswoman who called out ICE long before it was popular.

“I've said to a couple of my colleagues, like, man, what would it have looked like in 2024 when we're in the thick of the campaigns, if we stopped being so defensive on immigration and we went on the offensive; had we all collectively rang the alarm when we saw it start.”
