They should have never made atan2 take the arguments in YX order. Just because it's a more complete version of doing atan(y/x) doesn't mean they needed to preserve the order that you type them in
Big endian, probably because I imagine the whole multibyte number being placed (least significant bit on the right) inside a line of memory addresses that go from left to right
