I’d never seen any of Barbara Hammer’s films before so Barbara Forever served as both an introduction, an overview and a tender farewell. Makes a strong case for opening up the canon, but even more using art to understand and unlock your true identity and desires.
I turned the TV on as soon as we woke up but the game was already over. I did watch half of Cuba/Panama before heading off to the fest.
I saw Sherman’s March in theaters back in the ‘80s! I’ll be seeing McElwee’s new one at this fest. (I don’t have a press badge so I had to procure tickets in advance for this fest. My schedule’s kind of rigid, alas.)

Wish I’d seen The Same River Twice before seeing the 20-years-later follow-up The Bend In The River, but it’s not hard to be fascinated and moved by this ongoing project of documenting a group of hippie friends from the ‘70s to now. One of cinema’s greatest special effects: the passage of time.

Pieces don't all snap together but the fantasy is powerful.
