Good morning, friends, from London, where my first stop was the William Morris Society in Hammersmith!

Mr. Trump announced the change on social media, along with a new, and previously nonexistent, role for Ms. Noem inside the administration: special envoy for the Shield of the Americas, which he said would be a new security initiative for the Western Hemisphere.

You know how you can’t resign a seat in the UK parliament, so you get appointed to a sort of fake office, which disqualifies you for parliament? (the Steward and Bailiff of the Chiltern Hundreds)

Decades from now people will resign their jobs in favor of being special envoy to the shield.

This is the absolute only instance of Molon Labe (μολὼν λαβέ = "come and take it") that I will ever condone. 🍩 Thank you for your attention to this donutist matter.

Reactionary centrism is very bad and stupid! But there has to be a name for its enraged universalist complement: the normies cursing, fighting, and waving the flag during Trump II

Liberatory centrism?

I saw The Bride! tonight--wildly audacious and accomplished, and in fascinating dialogue with monster movies, musicals, and Bonnie and Clyde. Jessie Buckley is beyond-belief great. Huge swings like this & Wuthering Heights are why we need studios--it takes real $$ and support of vision to make them.

Picture of enormous CBOT mural no longer open to the public, maybe bc boobs

Commissioned in 1930 but removed from the agricultural trading room in 1973 and stored until 1982, John W. Norton's three-story mural of Ceres shown bare-breasted in a field of grain underwent extensive restoration in Spring Grove, Illinois by Louis Pomerantz before being displayed in the atrium of the 1980s addition of the Chicago Board

I admit I prowled around the building afterwards trying to sneak into a locked lobby that might have been displaying the enormous bare-breasted Art Deco banner of Ceres the Goddess of Grain

Commemorative still of the scene in Ferris Bueller where the rogue teens spend some time watching the traders. That floor is now closed to the public sadly

(More unasked-for retail advice for Target 😜)

American liberals looooove our amazing cities. Have a pop-up with things you can only get in New York, then Houston, Seattle, Los Angeles, etc.

Minneapolis should be first but maybe they burned that bridge
