First the Blue Jays and now this...
You don't think that meandering between the lottery and the play-in w/ almost no future assets is an ideal place to be?
I usually don't care too much about such things but the blue jersey with the gray pants is a special kind of horrible. If you're going to go, then go all the way or don't go at all... #Brewers
I like the trade the #Brewers made today because you can never have enough controllable pitching depth AND they have a bunch of top IF prospects in the pipeline. But I don't buy that they're "selling high" on Durbin and expect him to regress in any serious way. They're simply dealing from strength.
Would be so crazy and yes, kinda cool.
They either wanted the slam down call or it was “why isn’t that celebration taunting”?
Reminds me of another team
Nix would’ve made it more entertaining- my best in attendance football experience by far was being at the Sea/Packers blizzard game - was unreal.
Why use a timeout there?
The worst play call of the game IMO
Sign 1, draft 2 or 3. Position needs a remake the way safety did a couple years ago.
Am I the only one wondering if that "pass" really went "backwards"?
🙏
When you retain a HC with a bad record hiring assistants you shouldn't be very surprised when he hires another bad assistant. (I truly have no opinion on this one but I absolutely do NOT give him the unearned benefit of the doubt).
Do you honestly think it makes a difference with that QB depth chart? If Rodgers comes back they're maybe .500, maybe. And if he doesn't they win 5 games at most - and if they hired a mix of Bill Walsh/Jimmy Johnson/Bill Belichick those records would be the same.
We've both declared. Hope we're both wrong and he gets us to the promised land. But this wasn't a case of "if it ain't broke..." there was a lot that needed to be fixed that I think will remain static.
He's whiffed on 2 of 3 so far and seems to be retaining other already proven incompetent assts. Re staffing sorry but Matt LaFleur is guilty until proven innocent IMO.
I think if he goes for it a couple times in the 1st half of Seattle we're very likely talking about another ring. But the other games I don't put as much directly on him tbh -though I do think he stuck w/ Capers WAY too long, that's on him the way Bissachia and the Berry years are on MLF.
Yup, that 15-1 team was pretty fraudulent - the defense mostly sucked all year and the moment they came up against a physical team they were exposed. The NFCCG - Plaxico ate Al up alive, we couldn't run the ball for shit, and Favre played like an old man in the freezing cold.
All that said, MLF in 7 years including a couple w/ a league MVP MLF hasn't accomplished what he had...
I bet if you and I dissected both coaches there'd be more of those on MLFs record on a % basis. Won't argue he hadn't run his course, he had. And I blame him for Seattle more than anyone - had us up for it and prepped to perfection and in-game decisions killed him...
100% agree. He was a good HC. Got Favre under control, won a SB. He had in-game issues which often was a fatal flaw. Biggest difference between him and MLF? There were plenty of games he won as a big underdog. He got his teams UP. MLF loses almost every game he should - and too many he shouldn't.
He's phenomenal. But Matt Arnold was cut from the same cloth and he is just as good.
I loved him - one of those guys where I never I understood why it fizzled so fast.
Yes Hader was the star obviously and both Santana and Houser were useful. And Brett Phillips was flipped for a good Moose rental. It was a great haul.
A very solid and surprisingly durable (at least of late) starter. He'll be missed. But the Brewers have managed to somehow cobble together very good staffs year after year. The real secret star of their team is the pitching coaching/development.
It's the Gomez trade.
Ngl, I was so mad at him for that playoff start in Wrigley. I appreciate the overall but he was never that guy - Miz could absolutely be that guy but it wasn't Freddy.
There are reasons this franchise has made the playoffs 7 out of the last 8 years. It's not a coincidence.
If you did the floor/ceiling comp on both these guys who would they be?
